What Students Say
Likes
- Campus size is vast, doesn't feel cramped or suffocated like few other colleges.
- Plentiful greenery around the whole campus, which provides a pleasant atmosphere.
- Location is outskirts of city making it a different environment.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure can be improved a lot considering the amount of fees they take.
- Curriculum of vtu is outdated and more of theoretical content.
- Evaluation of external exams since it's a non autonomous college - can be unfair or too strict sometimes
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum mainly focuses of theoretical aspects and less practical insights. Teaching methods can be improved and more focus should be provided on applications of concepts. Students should be encouraged to create projects and softwares which have real life application instead of just hundreds of pages of written assignment which doesn't benefit students a great deal. Internal exams are conducted twice per semester as per 2022 scheme and 1 external at the end of the sem. The frequency of exams are not bad considering it used to be 3 internal tests for the previous schemes. Internal exams difficulty are moderate but externals tend to be on the complicated side.
Placement Experience
Placements begin from 6th semester. Companies which usually visit are cognizant, tcs, accenture, wipro, chi, l&t, etc. Number of offers issues so far are around 500. Highest package is around 30L from media.net and average placement is around 5 to 6L. Percentage of students getting placed are 90+. My plans after getting degree are to get a job and settle down first and then look into my further future career.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly fees is around rs 90,000 for KCET admission (general). Management and comedk fees is around rs 250,000 per year. Management students would have had a separate donation fee of around 4 to 5 L or even 10L depending on branch. Snq quota, sc, st, obc category would have an approx fees of 20,000 to 25,000
Campus Life
Overall social life is below average in this college. Very less focus is given on extra curricular activities and fests. Our annual fest is called kalanjali which is held usually around November and also cultural fest /ethinc days called verve. Contribution from the college itself to support fest and our performance can be improved significantly. Funds are usually not provided or if provided...less for external performances of fest of other colleges which is not a good thing. Library is average and we rarely use the books in them , although a new library has been built but full access to students hasn't been provided yet. Technological provisons in class are average. All classes are equipped with projectors. Seminar halls are equipped with decent sound systems and also air conditioning. Labs are also average.
Admission
I had applied through KCET exam and with my rank of around 10000 this college was in match with my rank. Other colleges which I had applied to included msrit, dsce, bmsit, bmsce, rv, etc. I couldn't make it through to these colleges as their cut offs we're higher and i needed a higher rank for my course of choice. Although I would have got selected for a different course like eee, ete, etc. in these above colleges, I gave preference to my course. Admission process was smooth as it was through KCET counselling, once we pay the fees directly through bank account, i just had to visit the college once for the admission process and also pay some extra fees there. KCET would be a better option than comedk or management quota as the fees will be lower.
Faculty
Faculty is on the lower side considering the huge amount of students flowing in every year. Majority of the faculty is very average is teaching style and approach. Few exceptions are who actually put in efforts and make sure the curriculum is taught to students. Vtu syllabus is not the best as mentioned earlier... outdated and focuses more on theory.
Night Life
Night life is very poor in this college as everything shuts down by 5 p.m. and students are expected to either go home or back to hostels. Canteen also closes before 5 which is not every nice considering the lack of other hotels or cafes nearby to the college area. I would suggest that the locality is not very safe to hang around late nights as it is a remote area outside the city and lacks facilities.
