Course Curriculum Overview
The inclusion of data science and automobile engineering really was a major deciding factor. The balance between core subjects like data structures and algorithms, operating systems and database management systems provided amble knowledge. The lab sessions focus on hands-on work using programming language. Newly they have introduced artificial intelligence(ai),cyber security and has also increased the batches for these courses. The curriculum encourages active participation in hackathons and internships. Internal exams are conducted twice in a semester which is of easy to moderate level.also they conduct internal lab exams once in a semester.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements starting form 7th semester on wards. They provide placement assistance like aptitude test,gd,and interview preparation as early as 5th semester, to ensure readiness for placements. The college provided placement oppertunities this year in companies like cognizant,ey etc. The highest package on offer this year was 8lpa. The average package provided was 3.6 lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
SCMS School of Engineering and Technology offers a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with fees based on categories like Government (?80k/year), Management (?1.16L/year), and NRI (?2L total)(i dont have much idea about nri !). Additional charges include a ?10,000 admission fee, caution deposit, lab, and development fees. Scholarships are available for merit-based and financial need through KEAM rank and 12th-grade marks. Scholarships require maintaining a semester pass for continuation.
Campus Life
My experience in SCMS is a mixed one. They provide programs, but it is not frequently conducted. The major tech fests include vipanchika and ignis. The college library is one the best with its infrastructure and overall experience.they have wide varieties of books needed for education as well as for others.the staffs inside the library are a bit harsh, apart from that it provides a good experience. The classrooms are equipped with projectors for presentation and for teaching. The college has a large ground which is capable for football and cricket. It also has a basketball court and a huge indoor ground for badminton.
Admission
I applied for many colleges including rajagiri, various govt colleges etc, but i got Scms in my first allotment.then i applied again then for the 2nd time also i got scms.the KEAM rank was bit short of the govt colleges and rajagiri but i got allotted to the one which was suitable to the rank and that was Scms. Inorder to get admission we need to minimum 50% in physics, chemistry and mathematics 12th grade, for me i had above 90%. The KEAM is the most preferred exam.for scms, the cutoff needed lies between 10,000-15,000 for Computer Science ( for general merit). The admission process were not too complicated for me.it takes about half a day to complete all procedures and all the staffs are friendly.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:3 ensuring individual attention is provided to students. The faculty members are highly approachable and supportive.they are willing to help in both academics as well as in extracurricular activities. The btech program spans over 8 semesters for 4 years. Each semester has a mix of both electives aswell as core, which is currently needed in today's technical world. It also has lab sessions and project work.
Night Life
The college has a gym which has latest equipments need ofr workouts, library, canteen and a store, that operates within the campus itself. In hostel boys have to be inside before 8. While girls have to be inside before 7. Since the college is bit far from city and towns there is not much places to roam and it feels a bit scared to walk at night.
