Course Curriculum Overview
My course is an evergreen course that is fundamental for every kind of engineering. It is a branch with a vast scope for placements in India and abroad. It prepares me well for further education. The teaching specific to the course would begin in the second year.
Internships Opportunities
I'm a first year student so can't give a personal experience but internship is a cherished thing and many people get it as per my observation of seniors. The stipend is not too high, most students do it for experience. Dabur, and Maruti come for internships.
Placement Experience
Placements are great at my college. Apart from the dip in the pandemic, my college has maintained placement stats placing it at rank 1 in India. Various companies like Google, microsoft, goldmann sachs, da Vinci, etc come on campus for placements. About 80% students get placed each year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Per semester there is an academic fee of about 1 lakh rupees which comprises of labs, tuition fee, hostel seat rent fee and all. Then there is a hostel/mess fee of about 35000 rupees per semester for mess and room. Three meals a day and a snack break in the evening. There are many facilities that economically hindered candidates can consider such as taking a loan from the bank in campus. The EWS also have a very substantially low fee which I'm not so sure or exactly.
Campus Life
There are two big fests. Cultural, Rendezvous happens in October start. Tech, Tryst happens in March. The campus life is totally awesome. Literati is a fest for literature enthusiasts. Happens in January. The enthusiasm for sports is high. The GC spans over two months and is a crazy event.
Hostel Facilities
The room consists of my two roommates, three tables, three almirahs and three single beds. Two windows make the room fine to live. The quality of food is more than fine. The menu is inclusive and great. The hostel is affordable and but some people aren't alloted hostels if they live too near the campus because of the high population of the institute.
Admission
My college takes the jee advanced rank into consideration while taking admissions. Analysing the previous year and distance from my home, IIT Delhi mechanical engineering was my top priority. I might have preferred IIT Bombay mechanical engineering but rank did not allow it. Apart from the hard jee race, the admission process was smooth.
Faculty
The faculties show a wide range of diversity. Most of them are friendly and enthusiastic towards their subject. Some are strict and teach in a somewhat machine like manner which makes the course hard to understand. Prof. Agnihotri highly encourages independent thinking, TA Rishabh in MCP is great at teaching, and there are many more. Almost all the chemistry profs are jolly and great at teaching. I did not like prof. Veeravalli because of his way of teaching but that is a just a personal opinion. There are quizzes once in two weeks. There are minors and majors. The exams are very difficult.
Night Life
The campus wakes up at night. Each hostel has its night mess which is open till four in the morning. The library closes at 2 30 AM. You can enter and leave the hostel at any time in the night. The campus is safe, outside the campus can be dangerous. One of my favourite spots to roam would be the road behind the mittal complex. Noone goes there which makes it a relaxing place.
