Course Curriculum Overview

5

Electronics and communication being a closely related branch to many emerging technologies such as IOT , VLSI , machine learning (ML) , robotics , wireless communication and other fields . The curriculum prepares for real world applications by providing an opportunity of including mini project in semester 6 and main project in final year. An opportunity of taking electives has proven to be effective. A minor and honours courses can be taken along with the main course. Minor means studying a set of course from other department and honours means taking a main course from the same department. In electronics and communication in my college offers nanoelectronics and related courses for honours. The course curriculum can be improved by involving some more projects and opportunities for internships. One semester consists of just 4 months including time for examination which is vere hectic . The period of classes and semesters can be increased.

Placement Experience

3

From semester 7 the students will be eligible for campus placements . But each semester 7 does not means that everyone can goes through placement. Each company has an eligibility criteria and it needs to be satisfied by the candidates. College provides required placement trainings . In taking specific scenario of electronics and communication, LARSEN AND TURBO (L&T) , UST , 6D technologies, Algomax etc . The package offered can he varied. The highest package offered can be nearly 6 or 8 lakhs per annum . But it is rarely seen . Placement of students getting placed from ECE is very less as compared to that of CSE students. My plan is to get qualified in GATE examination and pursue Mtech from highly reputed colleges like NITs or IITs or deviate completly to research area.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly , it consists of two semesters. One odd and other even . Odd semester fees is about 5790 /- and even semester fees is about 3700/- . Development fees in case of hostels is 750/- per semester. When opting for hostels monthly rent in government hostels is 310/- The examination fees has to be paid apart from the above mentioned tution fees. Each papars costs 210/- and for lab it is approximately 420/- per paper. There are many scholarships according to the income , caste and other situations of the students. NSP scholarship provides students with an average of 15000/- per year for students. Egrantz and other such scholarships are there respective of their category . These are the total amount of fees needs to be paid .

Campus Life

5

There are tech festival and Arts and sports . Library consists of wide range of books needed for btech students . It also has books related to GATE , CAT and aptitude needed for development of individuals to their own respective field of interest. IEEE , IST and many clubs like cassette for music terex for dance and other clubs for the growth of individuals. NSS also plays a crucial role in college .

Hostel Facilities

4

There are two government ladies hostels for girls , Nila and Kabani . Facilities are satisfactory for living . Each room consist of 4 members. Meals and menu are also satisfactory. The hostels are affordable Rent is about 310/- per month . Hostel development fund HDF is about 750/- per semester. All girls will be given admission to hostels. If you want to rent a room or pg , near places like painavu and cheruthoni offers According to our needs.

Admission

The selection and admission process to government enginnering colleges is mainly based on a competitive exam KEAM .the qualified students in KEAM exam gets an opportunity to arrange and give their respective courses and colleges in allotment process. Then each college has a cut off for rank and students are placed accordingly.

Faculty

2

The faculty to student ratio may vary over time . Some faculties are good in sense of their helping mentalty and some are not . I belongs to 2019 scheme ktu. Each semester consists of two series examinations . The internal marks of 50 are to be given in such a way that 25 from the average of two series examinations , 10 for attendance and 15 for assignment. Then the external examination for 100 marks . Together a paper consists of 150 marks (100 external and 50 internal) . There are a wide range of students who fails to clear the examinations . Due to their inadequate knowledge, and scams during valuation.

Night Life

3

Canteen , library , ground are the hangout places in college . As the college is located in Idukki which is a very famous tourist spot there are many places to hangout . Hostel timings are from 6:00 am to 9:30 pm , which is very flexible for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
