What Students Say
Likes
- Infrastructure is quite good with all the facilities and free wifi
- There are 3 canteens and all three provide good and affordable food within rs.50
- There's no restrictions regarding outfit and you get a good exposure with lot of people and experiences
Dislikes
- Attendance is way too strict and they don't allow to sit for end semester if you don't have 75% Attendance
- Semester fees is a lot compared to other colleges and they take a good amount of fine if it's not payed within time
- Most of the faculties are approachable and helpful and they also take regular practical classes but 1 or 2 of them are very casual and most of the students don't understand or learn which eventually becomes a problem in exam
Course Curriculum Overview
They provide good labs with proper lab teachers which makes everything easy for us to understand. There are enough equipments for all the students to perform practicals. All these helps us to improve and understand things better. Academically AIBNK is strict and maintains regularity. Syllabus gets more or less completed within time and suggestive questions from faculties help a lot in exams. Since the class room is big and there's almost 60 students in each section , faculties need to be a bit loud and interactive which is the only thing I feel is needed improvement.
Internships Opportunities
Btech biotechnology doesn't have paid internship. You have to work for free which is a con but also you get to have experience which would benefit later. I don't know the details yet regarding the internships and how it works in Amity
Placement Experience
Since I'm in first year I don't have much knowledge about the placements but they provide good placements but it would take time if you rely on college. 10k-30k is the average placements salary provided. Most of the students get placed from final year. But getting a decent salary after completing UG is a bit tricky but if you have good score then it won't be much of a problem but doing pg and phd is what I'll prefer for myself.
Fees and Financial Aid
Btech Biotechnology is a 4 year course with 8 semesters and the fees are taken semester wise . In every 6 months are semester fees are taken and there's a apporx 2.5lakh per year fee required. 20k fees are also taken during admission as a security deposit which is refundable after you complete yiur course. You get a benefit of scholarship based on your marks if you take admission within 2yrs of passing 12th .
Campus Life
Freshers, Sangathan, Flashmobs, Celebrations, Dj night everything happens in a huge way to have fun but in 2023 all of these except teacher's day and Freshers and Sangathan got cancelled due to some issue. There's a big library with lot of books from where you can issue books but you need to register for library card. Classrooms are spacious and are cleaned everyday and the whole campus is central Ac . Labs are good with many tools and equipments. And There's swimming pool , gym , sports room etc for all the co curricular activities. Rest Unofficial and official groups are also there in insta and fb.
Admission
I didn't apply for any other colleges though I thought of Adamas and Heritage. But I got to know since the last few years only marketing placements are being provided by the other colleges which I wouldn't prefer in future being a btech biotechnology student. Amity has better opportunities and placements which I heard from my friends who were already studying. I was a dropper student and I didn't want to take one year of risk so J got into this college for partial drop so that even If I don't get , I would still have a good opportunity . Online forms need to get filled for admission and then there's a video upload interview type session which they take through a link.
Faculty
There are two sections provided for our btech biotechnology course with approx 60 students and 1 faculty is provided for each subject. In our first sem we had 7 subjects out of which chemistry and maths teachers were too good. They were friendly yet strict and understands what students can consume and prefer. Since most of us were not from maths and computer background we had difficulty in electrical and computer but the faculties I feel tried a lot but it was not enough or easy for many of us to understand. There are regular assignments, PPTs, viva exams, mcq test, internal and external exams.
Night Life
I don't stay at college hostels as the rooms are small and there's no space for single room share but I got to know they don't allow to go out of the campus all the time and parents are informed and permissions are taken before they allow to go out. Opposite of Amity, Kolkata theres Coffee house which is beautiful and photogenic. Amity also has many hangout places throughout the campus and it also has a CCD.
