Course Curriculum Overview

3

i chose my course because chemical is the core branch which will always be in use also it has very good research oppurtunities and the biggest factor that i chose this course was my rank in jee advanced. The curriculum has 4-5 labs to provide experience with real world problems also for more exposure students can even ask for projects from the professors.Talking about exams after every one or two weeks we have a quiz. Then we have one mid sem exams and end sem exams in a semester.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships are provided in IIT Delhi by various companies in multiple domain like consulting (Mckensey, BCG, Bain &Co., L&K, Accenture, PWC,etc), SDE (amazon, google, microsoft, adobe, etc), Analytics ( Goldmansachs), Core (HUL, Nestle, etc), quantitative trading (Janestreet, Optiver, etc) and many more with a very good stipend almost starting from 50000 to 200000 for a month depending on the company.

Placement Experience

4

for btech programe students sit iin placement in 7th sem for phase 1 placements and 8th sem in phase 2 placements. Many top MNCs of consulting, quant, analytics, finance and core comes to the campus for placement and in the first phase almost 50% students get placed while 20-30% dont sit for placements and are either preparing for UPSC /CAT /higher studies or working on their startup.More than 80% of students get placed in total. I'm planning to go for a data analyst job after getting the degree. The highest packages are generally 1-4 crores (vary every year) while the average package is 17-18 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

the total fees we pay in general category is around 3 lakhs per year in which 230000 is academic fees (total of all fees given above) and 70000 is for hostel fees. For categories like EWS, SC and ST this fees is not sure may be near around 40-50 thousand per year (academic+hostel). Also the college provide scholarships to financially weak students and to top performers of a batch(generally, students with CGPA>9.5)

Campus Life

5

There are multiple fest organised at IIT Delhi and one of the biggest 4 day cultural fest is Rendezvous, other than this the entrepreneurship fest Becon and technical fest are also organised. Many successful and well established personalities across various fields are invited to the college during fests along with this pronites are also organised in fests where multiple bollywood singers like shaan, sunidhi chauhan, etc come to perform. Then IIT delhi has a vast library with nearly 8000 books and 90000 journals in hardcopy and in total 300000 books including softcopies.Coming to the classrooms, the classrooms are fully air conditioned and every classroom is fully air-conditioned along with the projector screens. IIT Delhi has classrooms with capacities of 30,50,180,300 and 500.IIT Delhi has a very rich culture in sports and extra-curriculars. Every year inter IIT sports, tech, cultural meet is organised and inter hostel competitions like general championship for sports and group dance are held in the college. Multiple societies like music club, dance club, literature club, debating society, fine arts club and many more interesting clubs are part of college. Also the college student runs National Social Service Scheme for social welfare. All these clubs increase integrity among students with different cultures and also gives the students self confidence and leadership qualities.

Hostel Facilities

4

there are 1,2 and 3 seater rooms in iit delhi. Every room has a bed, a cupboard, a table and a chair for each student along with a ceiling fan. For summers students can even keep a cooler in their room. Every wing has a common washroom for around12-15 people. The mess menue is repeated in one week and revised after every one month. The food is not as good as home cooked food and many students mostly eat out not in mess. We have to register for hostel just once while taking admission then after every semester we have to pay hostel fees (seat rent and mess fees).

Admission

i did not apply any other college except for top 7 iits and in that too i kept iit delhi at top because it is top college and has some of the best faculty especially in chemical engineering. Also iit delhi has a very good network with alumni and entrepreneurs for startup. For admission in B.tech courses one must clear JEE Advance exam to get into iits and delhi has the highest cut offs after bombay. The admission process was quite convenient as most of the processes are done online for offline work as well there were many volunteers for helping students and parents with the procedure.

Faculty

4

faculty to student ratio is around 1: 10. Some faculties are very friendly and approachable some are bit less approachable.I won't name any faculties here but yes some faculties are really hardworking and put a lot of effort in teaching while some faculties just show the powerpoint ppt in the class.Exams ar tough because they demand thorough understanding of the concepts which can only be done by the students who study properly. It depend on the courses not all courses are tough to pass and some are scoring courses where every student pass.Talking about my department the curriculum is relevant enough and well planned.

Night Life

5

Every hostel in the college has its gym (free) along with the gym at sports complex and student activity centre (paid). There are multiple food outlets at the college like canteen, Naivedyam, CCD,< Bikanerwala, etc and they have subsidized prices for students.Every hostel has its own night mess. The campus has a central library along with a capacity of 200 also the campus have department libraries and hostel libraries as well. There is no restriction in entry timings of hostel and and campus. The college and its locality is very safe to roam around because at every 200-300 there is a guard in the campus and full caampus is under cctv survillence. Famous hangout places in campus are mech lawn, biotech lawn, canteen, ccd, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course curriculum at DTU is quite relevant and comprehensive. The reason I chose this course was the mix of strong fundamentals in the first year—like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Programming—followed by department-specific core and elective courses that allow some flexibility and specialization. The curriculum gives a solid foundation for both real-world applications and further studies, especially through hands-on projects and lab work. That said, some areas could be improved, like including more industry exposure, internships, and practical case studies to bridge theory and real-world problems. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-terms and end-terms) and include assignments and projects as part of evaluation. While most exams are manageable if you keep up with the coursework, a few subjects can be challenging, and preparation is key to avoid surprises.

Placement Experience:

The annual placements at NIT Delhi are consistently getting better year by year where the top branches such as CSE, ECE, and IT are leading the way with their strong placement rates. Many students get hired at very attractive salaries by well-established companies like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Amazon. For example, the CTC of the best offers have reached as high as ?15–20 LPA in some instances. The Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches also contribute to the university’s overall placement record to some extent. Those students usually boost the available opportunities for themselves by taking up internships and off-campus offers. Moreover, the students who fail to get a job on the campus can still benefit out of the college atmosphere where the strong basics of coding, projects, and practical skills are taught which makes the students quite employable at startups, off-campus, or even when going for higher studies like M.Tech/GATE/abroad. To sum up, NIT Delhi is a very solid foundation for the students whether they want to have a career or continue with their education.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive, with practical modules and industry-focused content that influenced my choice. It effectively bridges academic knowledge with real-world applications. However, adding more case studies and interdisciplinary approaches could enhance learning. Exams are well-timed but could better assess critical thinking. Teaching methods would benefit from integrating more interactive and hands-on sessions.
