Course Curriculum Overview

3

Always had interest in circits and power electronics so chose this field.Have only done 3 semesters so can't tell about curriculum structure but it mainly focuses on theory part nad not on practicals. The exams are sometimes too much especially in the autumn semester as it is of only 3 months and then there are mid terms end terms quizes an practical exams lab exams all in these three months only.

Placement Experience

3

There are in campus placements in our university. Students become eligible for the same from 7th semester. Companies like IBM, AMAZON, WIPRO, INFOSYS, DELOITTE, CGEGG, HONDA, NTPC, ACCENTURE are the top recruiters. The highest package was of 36.5 LPA and the average is 11.5LPA in the year 2023. The placement rate was of 108.38%.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is paid semesterwise i.e. twice a year ,the basic tution fees is according to your family's yearly income i.e. if it is more that 5lkh fees will be 62,500; if between 5lkh and 1lkh fees will be 20,833 and if less than 1lkh then 00 and also for SC/ST/PWD also 00 .Now the below written fees are same for everyone: Institute development fees - 2000 Library fees- 1000 Laboratory fees-700 computer/internet fees-1300 examination fees- 1000 industrial training fees-500 sports and extra curricular fees-1000 Now below written is the refundable fees taken at the time of admission Institute security deposit-12000 this is the over all fees structure of a btech student in NIT SRINAGAR

Campus Life

3

The annual technical fest is called as TECHVAGANZA and the cultural fest as RANG-E-CHINAR. Both are very mediocre events with a budget of around 15LKHS including the sponsorship money. Classes for 1st year students held in the attics i.e. very bad arrangement. There are multiple clubs for different activities but none is run by students only, all are under the students gym khanna controlled ultimately by the faculty only.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostels are too conjuasted..no balcony upto 8 students are living in a single room..there are frequent power cuts especially in winters and during our exams..there's no night canteen for girls but there was one for boys but not anymore.

Admission

NITs are alloted through josaa counselling,so I did my choice filling and got what I could at my tank in JEE Mains.I did face rejection from the colleges filled above NIT srinagar. The admission process is same for all NITs JEE Mains then JOSAA counselling then CSAB counselling (optional) and then physical reporting.

Faculty

2

As per the last year (2023) statistics the faculty to student ratio is only appropiate in Mechanical and ECE department. Rest of the branches especially Civil and Electrical engineering department, they have a really poor ratio. There are majorly two type of exams the mid terms(26 marks) and the end terms (50 marks). The level of difficulty varies from faculty to faculty. All the faculty members are nice if you brhave properly and study well.

Night Life

3

College life is bearable.Hostel intime for girls is 9pm in winters they make it 8 or sometimes 7 beacause it gets dark early in the winters.there's seperate gyms for girls and boys, the one for boys in good well equiped and the one for girls..umm it wold be unfair to call it a gym..too conjusted not enough equipments and machines..but the trainor's nice. People usually hangout either in the canteen or near nascafe. Both have decent food. And outside the campus there's Dal and Nigen lake people hang out around them do shikara rides . There's enough variety fof food and all at walking distance only. For shopping students prefer going to Lal chowk.

Placement Experience:

Our institute has a placement call, and it helps the students acquire jobs in the industry. Many top companies like Wipro, L and T, and NVIDIA visit our campus, and it provides jobs in every field from Information Tech. to Material-related jobs. Here job opportunities are for every branch. Recently in one day 30-40 students got placed at an average package of 10 LPA. Most of the opportunities are for CSE and IT students as it goes for every institute and some companies like GAIL, and IOCL. BARC gives internship opportunities to chemical branches too. The core branches like Electrical and Mechanical also perform well in the placements. From the 7th semester, placement opportunities are given to the students. Highest package 40 LPA and median package 10 LPA.

The university is situated in the Trikuta foothills and is 80 km away from the main Jammu city so one has to bear that because everything is not available sometimes. Electricity is 24×7 and the weather is awesome.
