Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have wanted to take this course since i gained an interest in genetics and such.I love learning about everything that defines human health and progress into diagnosis and cure. the course now is pretty relevant and has been taught from basics to get proper understanding. the curriculum is designed to make us ready for the real world jobs abd everything that is required for it the class tests are conducted once in two months are fairely easy. The mid semester exams asks for difficult questions related to your understanding and what is taught in class. The end semester 4exams are teh hardest and questions come from what is taught in the entire semester.

Admission

I applied to other branches of iits and nits as well as bits pilani. I got confirmed admission in all the iits except the top three and in all nits as well as in bits pilani.I chose iit kharagpur because of its developed biotechnology program as well its campus. I had to choose among the best in the country and while i was getting iits thats why i didnt accept the nits or bits pilani. among the iits my jee advance rank was not enough to get a good branch in iit bombay delhi or kanpur and since i wanted a top 5 iit i chose iit kharagpur and got what i wanted as my branch which is biotechnology. The admission process to iits involves two main national level exams called jee mains and jee advance. You have to clear the cut off jee mains to appear for advance. In jee advance you have to get a top 0.1 percent rank atleast to secure a good seat in a good iit. Both these exams are very difficult and require huge amounts of preparation. After getting selected there are various forms that you have to submit and your admission is secured.

Faculty

4

In my department it is almost 3-4 teachers for every subject.apart from which we have a faculty advisor as well different teaching assistants and lab instructors. the faculties are very approachable and can be contacted via emails for any doubt or concern. My favourite professors were vinay sir and mainak sir mainly because of their composure during teaching and the way they taught concepts and cleared doubts. There were a few faculties i didnt like because of their attitude and reasoning towards some stuff. we have two sets of exams:midsems and endsems as well as various class tests. the midsems carry 30 percent and endsems 50 percent. The endsems are fairly more difficult compared to the midsems. The course curriculum is pretty relevant and helpful

Night Life

5

my favourite hangout spots are the night canteens that are cheap and amazing they are no curfew timings for the hostels.Foe the campus going out is not allowed after 11pm till 4 am. The campus is very safe at any time of the day

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
