Course Curriculum Overview

5

I was interested in technology from very starting so i thought to pursue btech in cse from cgc and cgc is affordable also . Teachers help alot to students to grow in every aspect but at the end it is totally dependent upon the students who are studying In cgc there is also separate classes fir placement purpose in which they teach subjects like softskills, technical,gd ,pi etc

Internships Opportunities

5

Companies such as oracle , infosys , amazon , flipkart provide opportunities to students to make their carrier Faculty helps students to work on many projects which helps students to get placed in the best companies

Placement Experience

4

In semester 6th only students can sit for campus placements The highest package offered by rhe company amazon this year was 52lpa which is a very big package Percentage is 70-80 % getting placed I want to pursue for masters after completing my bachelors

Fees and Financial Aid

As i took admission in 2022 so at that time fees per semester was 47500 but now fee structure has been updated and the fee is nearly 66000 per semester .there is no scholarship . Every other fee is included in this amount only but only have to pay examination fee every sem to the university becuase cgc landran is affilated with punjab technical university . All students have to pay same fees no consession for anybody . Only education loan facilty is there for the students who belong to lower class family .

Campus Life

5

In cgc there is one and the biggest fest of ptu helds every year in the month of november and in which they calls big singers . The fest lasts for 2 days and there happens lot of activities They teach and prepare students for placements in classonly Sports occur on the regular basis There are so many clubs and groups in which students can participate for every work like music , dance , sports , writing , environment events etc

Hostel Facilities

5

Room in hostel have facitlity of 2 seater room , 3 seater room , 4 seater. Room students according to them can afford it fee is different for evry type of room Meal is quite good they provide lunch breakfast snacks dinner Locality is good to rent rooms or pg outside the college and easily avaialable and affordable

Admission

I applied in chandigarh university too but the fact is both have same placements but difference in fee is double and the crowd in the course is 5 times so i prefer to go in less crowded collges with affordable fee. No colleges rejected me There is no exam required for taking addmision in cgc nit even for scholarship they only take admisiion on the basis of 10 th and 12th percentage which shoul be greater than 75 %

Faculty

5

The ratio is ok between student and faculty . Faculty is very nice and supportive in terms of everything with students. Some teachers are also there to make you feel like home you can also share personal things with them . One teacher is Harpreet kaur she is very strict while teaching she wants each n evrry student to sit properly in class but after class any student can go to her and ask for help she will help him or her for sure she is so nice . There is no such faculty to whom i dont like.talking about exams there is one exams at the end of the semester but while the semester there are mid terms (mst) occur twice and mst's are not that tough and ptu exams ( as cgc affilated to ptu ) are also not that tough but yes students do fail in these exams .

Night Life

4

Gym facilties are provided for the hotel students for free 24×7 . There are also present so many food courts where students can go chill after the colleges time Campus timmings for girls is 7:30 pm and for boys it is 10:00 pm Yes locality is safe to roam at night . There are so many places outside the campus as the college is situated in region near chndigarh which makes it very suitable for the students to hangout at the famous places of chandigarh such as elante mall , sukhna lake , rock garden , markets etc

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges - [CGC] Landran, Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
