Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is really according to the current job prospects. Every year the syllabus changes according to the current needs and opportunities which I find is really necessary. I find the syllabus is finished too fast and it is really hectic to keep up with the schedule.

Placement Experience

4

Placements start from the last year along with the project. There are several companies that arrive for the drive such as biocon, accenture, federal Bank etc. The package can go upto 22 lakhs per annum according to the skill of students. An average of 15 percent student get placed. I plan to work in food microbiology field and hopefully get placed during the placement drive.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee is almost 90000 including the lab fee, uniform fee and examination fee. Every year the fee changes. In the second year the fee changes to 95000. For non karnataka students the fee is higher than the local students.

Campus Life

4

There arent much fests held in KJC. The major fest that happens in the ethnic day that celebrates the cultural diversity of the college. There is a vast library in every department where student can refer as well as borrow books from. Sports day is held once a year and there are also several clubs that are mostly popular among the undergraduate students.

Hostel Facilities

1

There are single, double, triple and four sharing rooms with attached bathrooms. There are also common bathrooms. There a very big hall in the second floor. The hostel food was terrible so we opted for a mess outside. The room must be booked prior to the opening of the college and an advance payment of 10000 is made first. The facilities arent good according to the fee we have paid that is 68000 per year. They don't clean our rooms or they don't provide us with washing machines.

Admission

I applied to ramaiah for food technology but I chose this college because of the placement opportunities here. I had also applied to st Joseph's for msc microbiology but the entrance exams there were conducted too late. First a document verification will be held through zoom meeting and then an interview will be conducted shortly. They ask basic questions and you will be intimated about the results within two days maximum.

Faculty

5

The faculty members are well experienced and friendly. There will be midterm and end semester examination that is strictly evaluated. There are internal marks and practical marks added but you are not given information about how they calculate them.

Night Life

2

The college is alive till 9 at night. Student can be seen hanging out in the ground till that time. The hostels has a curfew so the hostel students are unable to have a night life. Most hostels have a curfew till 8 and they are supposed to call their parents if they need to go out after that. The locality is moderately safe and thatha tea is a very famous coffee spot near the college.

Our particular course dint had any placement drives. But now, from this year they do have for M.Sc. DAN students too. I think its a good move. Other culinary department students had 100% placements as claimed by the University. After getting degree i am interested in pursuing my Ph.D.
