Course Curriculum Overview

5

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.

Internships Opportunities

5

They do not offer internships to the students but 2nd years students must do an internship in the months of June and July. Without the internship certificate and viva, one cannot graduate. They suggest us the organizations we can go to for internship and help us with any doubt that we have.

Fees and Financial Aid

For 1st year I paid around ?77000 as college fees. For 2nd and 3rd year I paid?70000 each. Every semester I have to pay ?1600 for examination fee. Students from general category have to pay ?2000 but I pay less as I'm from ST category. My friends from BCA pay ?80000 for fees and BCom pay ?80000 as well. The exam fees for BSC and BCA students is around ?2500 because they have to pay for practical exam in the lab as well. My college does provide many scholarships and financial aids but I don't know much about them. My friends have gotten around ?54000 and ?80000

Campus Life

5

My college has some or the other fest going on everyday. We have so many clubs that I can't even remember all of them. We have inter collegiate and intra collegiate fest happening every semester. We even have Kridotsava which is inter department sports competition which goes on for weeks. We have teacher's sports day where we can support our favourite professors. And we have inter college sports tournaments. There's so many opportunities in this college to do thing apart from studies. And I love it. As for the library. You can borrow any book you want. They host book fairs and exhibitions every semester where students can buy book and if they don't have money then they can just write the name of the book they like and the college will purchase it and keep it in the library.

Admission

I applied to KIIT, Symbiosis, Saint Xavier's and I got accepted in most of them. But I ended up choosing KJC because of Bengaluru. I heard so many good things about the weather here and how the place is so I wanted to come here. I did not apply in Christ because I heard that the routine is too hectic. KJC is not like that. The routine is manageable. We have classes from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. But we either have morning classes or afternoon classes. Not the whole day. And the campus was also a reason fmto choose this college.

Faculty

4

There are a lot of faculty members in this college. I don't know many of them. I only know the ones from my department. The relationship I would say is really good. We are very comfortable with out professors and go to them anytime we want. My favourite is Steffi ma'am. She teaches really well and is the sweet. She even includes activities in class so her classes are never boring. My least favourite or the one that I don't like is Vidyavati ma'am. She does not know how to teach and her voice hurts our ears. She only makes us understand stuff but never explains all that to us. And her focus are always on the boys. We have 2 exams every semester. One is mid term examination and another is end semester examination. Mid term is of 30 marks and end semester core paper is for 60 marks and general paper is for 45 marks. Before the exam we even have pre course and mid term online exams. These online exams help professors to have an idea about at what level of knowledge the students and they can set the question paper accordingly. The exams of my course are really easy. Many pass. Most of them fail because they don't get to attend the examination due to attendance shortage. The courses are relevant and easy to grasp.

Night Life

3

There's many gyms, cafes and stores. Not many public places like parks though. There gym in our college as well. We can stay inside the campus till 8:30 pm. And there are hostels for both girls and boys. Girls hostel curfew timing is 6:30 - 7:00. Boys don't have any curfew. These hostels are not rin my the college though. There many pgs and affordable apartment nearby. People usually hang out in RKC, Udupi, Paanor.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of the dual degree that it has to offer, christ is one of the very few institutions that offer dual degree and allow you to explore both the subjects or gain combined knowledge of both the subjects. The curriculum is very up to date with subjects that relate to real world problems. What i like the most about my curriculum is the Learner centric approach where they divide the class into halves so that the teacher student ratio can be maintained in order to achieve full efficiency. One area of improvement can be inculcating more soft skills traininng into it.

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
