Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum gets updated every five years, the last time being in 2024. The latest curriculum is far better than the curriculums before, as it is focused on building additional skills in the students and also prepare them for industries. A bit more exposure to industry level facilities could be included in the curriculum.

Internships Opportunities

5

Yes the college provides internship for students.Internship offers are passed to students via placement and assistance cell. Senior teachers and other faculty will help students very well in projects and gate preparation. I haven't did any internship yet as I'm a first year student, I hope to do some in the future.

Placement Experience

3

The college has decent placements. Students from 3rd and 4th year appears for placements. The placement cell is very active. Companies like L&T, MRF visits for placements. The highest package last year was 32 LPA. Many students leave for higher studies abroad or gate preparation.

Fees and Financial Aid

As it is a state goverment institution, the college fees is very affordable, around 9000 rupees per year. Certain categories can study without any fees. Many scholarships can be availed while studying in the college such as e-grantz, alumni association scholarships etc. They are based on annual income and also merit.

Campus Life

5

The campus life is excellent. The college conducts it's technical and cultural fest together and it's called Dyuthi. It's typically held during the later half of the year. The college also hosts many minor events which are very fun and also useful.

Admission

I had applied to College of Engineering Trivandrum,GECT and also TKM College of engineering, kollam. I had got admitted to TKM first, but through second allotment window I got admission in GECT. I didn't have enough rank to get placed in CET. The reason for choosing this college over the other government colleges in the state like TKM would be the infrastructure, the placements in the college, and also the college life in GECT. Admission in all of these colleges are based on KEAM entrance exam (Kerala engineering entrance exam).

Faculty

4

The faculty members are excellent, almost all of them being PhD scholars. There is no shortage of faculty members in any department. Some faculty may feel not upto par with the standards of the rest, but these are exceptional cases. Talking about exams, we get two internal examinations (Series Tests) , and then one End Semester Examination. Faculties manage to finish the topics before the exams. The exams are moderate and can be aced with ease of you prepare well enough.

Night Life

4

There are many students in the campus even at night, hanging out with friends, playing games etc. There are also many spots to hangout like Union bench, basketball court etc. There is minimal nightlife outside the campus, except for a few cafes where theres a crowd 24/7. The college has a gym which is open from 4-6 pm. The timing is kind of short and the facilities are not that great. The cafeteria provides tasty food for very affordable rate. The ladies hostel has a curfew time of 9 pm. There is not curfew time for men's hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because the curriculum covers key subjects like Python, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Deep Learning right from the early semesters. The inclusion of electives such as IoT, Cloud Computing, and NLP made it future-relevant and versatile.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
