Course Curriculum Overview
This course, the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) is highly demanded in every field and that is the reason I decided to go with it. This curriculum includes a blend of theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. While the course is comprehensive, it could include more emerging technologies like data analytics, consultancy, and digital marketing. Exams occur at regular intervals including written exams, internal exams and practical exams.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the last year which is 5th semester. I do not have any official data but many companies like Deloitte, PwC, Genpact, and Kotak Bank visited the college. Deloitte made around 25 offers this year. The highest package is around 6-7 lakhs and the average is 4-5 laks. Around 70-80% of students get placed. I have plans to pursue an MBA after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Mine is a 3-year course. The course fee is 50000 a year, and there are other small expenses like exams and practical fees. Our college does provide scholarships and other financial aid. The fees have not increased for a long time.
Campus Life
The annual function, Srijan is held around February. Other functions like sports day and other fairs are held all around the year. The library is very big with a vast variety of books starting with course books to personal growth books as well. Classrooms are very well equipped with modern technology. We also have digital classrooms with smartboards and other online teaching methods. Other sports and extracurricular activities include swimming, football, basketball, dance, music, and theatre.
Admission
I applied to St. Xaviers College other than this and even got a confirmation. I couldn't join there due to its night batch for girls and other connectivity issues. I didn't apply to any other college so didn't get a rejection. The admission process involves- application form submission, shortlisting based on 12th marks and other academic performances. The cut-off changes every year ranging from 85%- 95% in class 12th. The overall admission experience was very smooth and well-organized.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio might be approximately 1:20 which ensures that every student receives equal support and attention. I like Fatema Ma'am for her cooperative and understanding nature. I like S Roy Ma'am for her interactive teaching sessions. There are no such faculties that I didn't like because all of them are equally good in their respective subjects. 6 exams in the full course are 2 exams per year and 1 exam per semester. The difficulty level of the written exams is moderate. Approximately 5-10% of students fail to clear the exam but are allowed to reappear for the same.
Night Life
The college doesn't have a nightlife. The gym and cafeteria close by 5-6 pm. There are no hostel facilities provided by the college. the campus timing is 6 am- 6 pm. The locality is very safe to hang around at night, Famous hangout places include the gym room and the canteen.
