Course Curriculum Overview

3

After the change made by NEP,the curriculum in my faculty has been little tough but as for my course it's really very interesting to learn and beneficial for my future career plans like it would be helpful for those who are preparing for civil services, phd etc. like I said the teachers are top notch but this does not apply to all the professors. There are few profs that needs to be changed because they are not punctual with their sessions and this sometimes leads to incomplete syllabus and then they hurry us with notes just 1week before the examination.

Internships Opportunities

3

I'm not sure about the internships but we do have exchange student opportunities in my faculty.not quite sure about other faculties. In my knowledge I did come to know that for the engineering faculty specially in computer science department..a student got 1,00,00,000/- annual package in 2018.

Fees and Financial Aid

This is tenzing Choeying Bhutia and here I'll be giving some details about my college fee structure plus scholarship details. When I got in jadavpur..firstly I had to pay only 1350/- as my admission fees and after that I don't even remember doing any extra payment in a year so basically it's zero cost, just during semester exams you need to pay around 150/- as exam fees...and as for scholarships, they provide svmsm, kanyashree etc for the minorities and also alumini scholarship for those who have low income. The fee structure remains the same for all the categories(st sc OBC general)

Campus Life

4

In my campus we get to enjoy college fests for almost three months like uturn, sanskriti organized by different faculties. We enjoy one of the biggest college fests in west bengal.thesw fests are organised every year during the month of December till February. Apart from the fests...let's talk about the library accessibility.in my campus we are provided with two libraries, one that is central used by everyone and the second the departmental library that is available for only the faculty members. The departmental library do have all the important journals and books that is needed for our semesters and as for the central library we have a reading room and a digital library were we can use the computers in needed. In the classroom we are not provided with any technology but we do have the opportunity to use our personal phones if needed in the classroom. As for the extracurricular activities we have sports club for men and women and they do travel all over india for matches (expenses are provided by our university)..we also have a debating society which is one of the most famous clubs in my campus. There are students who run social groups or clubs but they need to have good strength in their group in order to expand or create an impact in the campus. So I would say that the overall experience in my college is good enough than the other colleges that I had thought to apply.

Admission

I had applied to many colleges in kolkata. Presidency University was one of my choices and I did get in BA IN Pol science but when I saw my name in Jadavpur University ba in pol sc list. Everyone including my teachers, parents motivated me to choose jadavpur university because this university is one of the best universities in west bengal. For getting in jadavpur university we need to sit for admission test plus they'll see our board results.

Faculty

3

Compared the the students in my faculty..the faculty members are really less which unables them to focus on every student and this makes few students unapproachable to the faculty members. As far as I know the students from other faculties may agree with me but I believe the engineering faculty is a bit better because they are punctual with their notices and with the result date which is also a big problem in my faculty ie punctuality. my faculty is very late with providing us our results. Now focusing on our exam structure: we have 2 semester(6 months gap) every year which makes it 8 semesters in 4years of my BA course. For BA in pol science..One semester exam in for 50marks but 20 marks in done separately as college internals so we need to do our sem exams for 30 marks and the additional 20 marks in added from our internals that's done before our sem exams. 98%of our students pass in my faculty with no backs.

Night Life

4

Other than the faculty in my campus we are provided with a gym for male and female and we are also provided with a basketball flat, table tennis rooms, long tennis court, volleyball court and a big ground for cricket and football.we are alao provided with 8canteens in our college and a green zone to sit and chill with our friends. We have 5 gates in total and during weekends gate 4 is always open even at night. Students from other universities are also allowed to enter our campus . There are many tea stalls and snacks stalls lined up outside our college which is a good hanging spot for students after the class. Students can stay in the campus till 10pm and during fests people can stay till 3am in the morning
