An honest review with pros and cons on PTU, Puducherry

Course curriculum is made very nice, syllabus is competitive. By application of the syllabus in examination is not worth. They can set the paper little high level. Can focus on mathematical problems rather than normal easy theory based question. Can give classes for competitive exams properly. 3 internals will be almost in 2 weeks to 1 month gap which is hectic. Each internal 25 marks, average of best of 2 will be taken, 5 marks for attendance, 10 marks for assignment, some faculties may assign project too. End sem is for 60 marks. For lab end sem is for 50 marks, 10 marks external viva. In internal 15 for midsem, 10 for record, 10 for observation, 5 for attendance.

From 7th semester you are eligible for campus placement. 80% placement there. No. Of offer near by 350. Companies visited like Microchip technology, Mbit wireless, Latern view, L&T, TCS, capgemini, Cognizant, Zoho, Accenture, TVS, Tech Mahindra, Avasoft etc. Highest package is 10 to 12 LPA,lowest even 2.5 LPA,average Package 4 to 5 LPA. After degree I have chosen M.Tech.

Puducherry Technological University was formerly known as Pondicherry Engineering College, it started with NIRF ranking 17 once, but now it holds NIRF ranking above 200. Yearly fees for academic is 1.5 lakh for JoSAA admitted candidates, 13000 for CENTAC admitted candidates. Caution fees will be take 10k to 20k. If you want to stay in hostel, it charged 50k per year in my time, although now they are changing 70k as per I heard. For hostel caution deposite is 15k but don't keep hope for getting it returned, they will make excuse like mess amount increased and will cut your caution money. They offer all central govt. scholarships like Pragati Scholarship and even they have many local scholarship schemes from which you can get up to 50k per year. Now let's take about study there. Faculties are too good, some of them may not be good. But administration has fault to make the examination easy. Trust me syllabus is very much updated than other college, but level of question paper is very low. Pressure of study is low to moderate. Everything they try to manage in systematic way. They won't spoon feed you anything, you need to be serious about your job and higher study preparation. The worst part is training and placement center, they will 5k for enrollment and to make you sit in placement but they will literally teach nothing. If I talk about placement, it's not that good. You can expect highest salary 10 to 12 LPA, lowest even 2.5 LPA, average 4 to 5 LPA. Companies like, Microchip technology, MBIT wireless, Accenture, TCS, Capgemini, Cognizant, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Avasoft, TVS etc will visit the campus. If I talk about hostel life, it's not less than worst. I will suggest not to take hostel (for ladies), you can take PG outside. The ladies hostel warden literally don't have any other work other than asking money and putting spies on you to see with which boy you are talking. Food is worst, you will lose your weight day by day and you will start prefering Swiggy, Zomato.

Campus life is not bad. Annual fest is there like Pecofes, various artist will come, cultural, technical program will be there. Even every department conduct there fest separately yearly once. There are lots of clubs to enhance your activity , like Literally Club, Photography club, cultural club, Fine arts Club, Electronics Club etc. Sports will be conducted frequently. Within classroom you have desktop system and por presentation based projector.

Rooms count is lesser than students, for girls in 1st and 2nd year per room 4 to 6 students will be given, for 3rd and 4th year per room 2 students, you can get single room based on availability. You are not allowed to go to home other than weekend. Hostel registration will happen in time of admission itself. Food quality is too bad in hostel. Hostel aunties will wash your clothes by taking money. Bathroom facilities good, it will be cleaned everyday.

I applied for some good NITs and some good GFTI in South India. I got into this college by counselling process. This college NIRF ranking was good so I had chosen it, but I will suggest other don't choose it if you don't have aim to do higher study after this. Admission process is through JoSAA and centac. Cut off will vary year to year.

Faculty student Ratio is 1:16. Some faculties are really friendly and helpful. Some are very judgement about you dress code and about boys girls normal friendship. In my department I felt Dr. Gnaou Florence Sudha, Dr. M. Thachayani, Dr. R. Sandanalakshmi, Dr. Av. Ananthalakshmi, Dr. V. Vijayalakshmi, Dr. K. Jayanthi, Dr. Gunasundari, Dr. Saminadan V, Dr. Nityanandan L. Are pretty good professor based on their teaching, giving marks and helping students. Out of my department I got one gem Dr. Santhi Simon, she was my friend philosopher and guide,she literally helped me to survive in that college. I won't say I don't like some faculties, but I will say they can improve their teaching capability and behavior. Dr. Kumar K sir is one of them. Dr. V. Akila who is ladies hostel warden too, she can rather be little friendly to students other than judging female students with their all male friends. There are mainly 3 internal exams, 1 missen for lab and 1 semester examination. Paper set to be easy, based on previous year paper. Grading is absolute and many of the faculties give very good marks.

There are one Canteen, shopping complex for stationeries, cold drinks, ice creams inside college. There is one temple too inside college. College library is very big and full of useful books, you can make use of it. Nearby many restaurents, cafeteria, dessert zone is there. Even though Pondicherry is a well known tourist spot, so you can enjoy. For girls hosteller night life is not allowed, in time in 7:30 pm
