UPES REVIEW

Course curriculum of the college is very well balanced. It has all the basic B.tech core subjects and all the new subjects related to current technology . Exams are held 2 times a semester. Mid term exam is of 20% weightage and End term exams are of 50% weightage, the remaining 30% are of internal marks given by teachers based on submitted assignment, quizes and attendance.

Placements and internship are one of the highlights of this college. Internship are mandatory for all the students as it is a 2 credit course. Career Services of the college is very well functioning and provide ample opportunities to students for placements and internship. Placements go upto 96-98% per year with average package around 4-5 lakhs per annum. Stipend for the internship was not for all the students but to those which were offered by the company ranging from 10k to 20k.

There are two official events celebrated in UPES in an year. Uurja is the cultural fest of the college organised every odd semester. Uurja consists of various events like Music, Dancing, Cultural Performance, DJ Nights etc. Punjabi singer Hardy Sandhu was the highlight for this year's uurja. Another event is Ignite, which is the technical fest of college. Various workshops, technical competitions, industry oriented programs are organised in this event.

UPES has its fee structure on expensive side. Average fee per student is around 3 lakhs per annum. Fees has to be paid before starting of each semester in advance and if not paid registration for the coming semester is blocked until all the dues are cleared including late fine.

College provides 100% tution fee wavier/scholarships to the students getting 9 CGPA and above in both the semester of that year. This scholarship can be extended for all the years if the student continue to do so.

UPES has separate R&D block for all the science labs (Physics, Chemistry) which are very well equpied with experienced lab assistants. College encourages sports very much. Every year Intramural cricket tournament, basketball tournament, football and all the tournament for outdoor games are organised. Around 40 teams participate in every tournament.

Seniors of the college are very helpful and friendly. Seniors play a very important role in passing the semester exam with all the past experience they had and providing the essential study materials available to them. Many successful alumni visit our college for guest lectures and as motivational speakers.

I got admission in UPES through the entrance exam after qualifying in which, i had to go for counselling process, where seats were offered on the basis on individual rank. There are almost all the branches available for B.tech to choose from.

Faculty of college are bit on inexperienced side. Many teachers are hired just after their Post Graduation with very less experience of teaching. There are few excellent teachers who are very experienced and have in depth knowledge of the subject.
