Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum offered by The National Institute of Engineering easily meet the requirements you need to face the real world applications. The faculty not at all deviates from this curriculum and take utmost care in preparing the young engineers to face the global market
Placement Experience
The students in NIE are eligible for campus placements after the start of 7th semester. Huge companies like, Infosys, Wipro, TCS, BOSCH, Accenture, SAP, Cognizant and Amazon are the prominent recruiters of students who opted for Electrical and Communication Engineering as their degree. Average package in ECE was 28.7 LPA and the average package would be around 7-8 LPA. The placement percentage of students is around 60%. Some students wish to pursue higher academics, so it is safe to say that around 50% of students get placed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
NIE is known for its academic and lively campus which is conducive for young passionate engineering students. The institute is in possession of modern facilities such as well-equipped laboratories, libraries and advanced-level research centres. The teaching faculty has a good knowledge of the subject and is also useful for students as the curriculum is structured to fit both theory and practice. They also provide top-notch placements in companies like Wipro, BOSCH and TCS, ensuring high employment for new graduates.
Campus Life
NIE holds annual events like 'SPARSH', which is a cultural event where students can showcase their artistic and cultural talents. NIE also holds 'Technova', which is a technical event which includes wrokshops, seminars, and various competitions to encourage students to awaken their technical expertise.
Hostel Facilities
The boys hostel has 3 blocks; A block, B block and C Block. The hostel fees is 1.1 lakh, no matter which entrance exam you wrote. The food here is quite average but it is several times better if we compare it to the hostels in other engineering colleges. The rooms are triple sharing and there is a common bathroom for each floor. The south campus hostel is also very close to the campus (like right behind the campus).
Admission
I was originally planning for Mechanical courses in top colleges of Bangalore (RVCE, BMSCE and MSRIT) and kept Electrical and Communication as a substitute branch. But during counselling, I got into NIE and got Electronics and Communication. I wasn't unhappy about it because NIE is also one of the best instituions in Karnataka when it comes to Electrical Engineering.
Faculty
There are a maximum of 60 students in one class with a 3:1 ratio of boys and girls. The faculty is very knowledgable in their respective fields and are also friendly and approachable for students so that they can ask any query regarding the subject. Dr. Roopa S V is one of the mathematics faculty within the college. She's teaches in such a way that a student who is weak in math can solve the problems easily; given that he listened to the class. Dr. Sangamesha M A, a chemistry faculty within the college also teaches very well chemistry. He is ready to clear any kind of doubt regarding the subject, no matter how many times you ask him. There are 2 Internal Exams of 25 marks each; where you should score a minimum of 20 out of 50 to be eligible to write the semester end exam. In addition to the internal exams, there are also 2 quizzes conducted for 10 marks and assignments. The semester end exam would be for 100 marks.
Night Life
Gym equipment the south campus is not up to date. There are a lot of equpments which should be replaced. There's a gym instructor who helps you, but he is only available during evenings The food is average but it is several times better when compared to other engineering hostels. And you cannot expect 'that' kind of lifestyle in Mysore.
