What Students Say?
Likes
- the first sem timings atleast is pretty nice. We only come to school for like 4 hours
- Practical classes are pretty fun. We get alot of hands on experience in classes like IIM
Dislikes
- The teaching staff isnt really the best. Some are nice whereas some are not
- The timings from sem 2 are 8:30 to 3:30 which is not nice
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is pretty outdated as with any other college. We have subjects like engineering mechanics and engineering chemistry which server no purpose to our degree. Theres no point in learning chemistry if im pursueing computer science but we still have to study chemistry for the first year. They should do what the new gen colleges do where they start off with coding from the first year and skip the first year curriculum. Our midsems were off 1hr30mins which was enough for the exams and the difficulty was moderate
Internships Opportunities
We have companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys etc offering roles such as software development, data anlytics etc with stipends starting from 5000-40000. Some notable projects include ai chatbot integration at infosys
Placement Experience
Placements at mit are decent i guess, students can avail for placements from the 7th sem. Around 300 companies appeared such as microsoft, amazon, infosys, acenture etc. The highest package was 44lpa with the median being around 6-7 lpa. I think around 80% of students got placements. Im planning on going abroad for my master in cse.
Fees and Financial Aid
Im currently studying btech in computer science and the yearly fees for me is 355000. I got 91 percentily in cet due to which i did not get any scholarship but the students who got about 95 could avail 25% scholarship, students who got above 97 could avail 50% scholarship and students who got above 99% could avail 100% scholarship. The scholarships were given on first come first server basis.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty good i would say. The only few good things about mit wpu is its campus life. Socialising is really easy especially because the classes have like 80 students in each class. We had SLDP which was almost an introductory even that was held for like 5 days where people from different fields came to shed some insight of their respective fields. This was held during august. Theres alot of books in the library, but theres a lack of fictional books i would say. Theres a digital library tho where we can read alot of books so thats nice. The infrastructure is not good but we're moving to a new building in a few months. Theres basket ball court and thats it, they're building a ground tho. Theres alot of student led groups are all clubs are led by students. They're alot of drives led by students as wel.
Admission
I choose mit wpu because it was the best college i could have got for my percentile. The other college i was looking for was mit adt which required only 50 percentily and has a better campus in general. But the crowd and placements along with the distance made me choose wpu over adt. The admission process was quite easy, all we had to do was fill up a form with our marks list and stuff and once the marks were anounced, we received provisional admission based on our marks. I got in by cet cutoff which was around 90 for cse. Almost everyone got in through cet.
Faculty
The faculty to student ration is 1:80 almost. I liked priyanka maam, she teaches ladc and she's our classteacher.I dont like chemistry maam, she starts talking in marathi randomly. Theres 2 exams, first we have our midsems which were of 30 marks, and only included theory subjects like ec, em and ladc. Then we have our endsems which include practical subjects as well such as IIM. The level of midsems was quite moderate, it wasnt anything extraordinary. Only 3-4 students failed in each subject. The course curriculum is pretty outdated like with every college.
Night Life
The night life is good at mit. Theres no gym, the cafeteria is reasonably priced i guess, the coffee is aight. I dont live in a hostel but ive heard its nice. The food at the mess is not good tho. Famous hangout places inside and outside college are the garden near globe, fatfush, lassi wassi and library.
