Course Curriculum Overview

2

The curriculum is does not exactly make u ready for real world applications. There is vast room for improvement. It seems very outdated and new technology have not yet been implemented in syllabus. They could make the curriculum so that it makes us industry ready. The frequency and timing of exams are good. But the quality of the exams of some subjects are not good, they are not a good standard of evaluation of students knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

3

Interniships are provided by the college after entering 3rd year. Most people with more than 8CGPA and good skills can get PAID internships from well reputed companies. However since, i am currently only in first year, i do not know much about the companies which are recruiting.

Placement Experience

3

The campus placements in my college are pretty good. Even if you are not placed in campus placements, it is not that hard to get a job outside of campus placements. All this is keeping in mind that the CGPA is above 8, and the person has good knowledge. Placement percentage is above 75 on average. Highest package in electrical is around 45 lakhs whereas average package is 19 lakhs. My plans after getting degree is to start a robotics company.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

2 lakhs is the fees paid per year for students of first year. Scholarships are available for students who have family income less than 5 lakhs. General, OBC category students dont have any fees waiver. Whereas SC/ST students have fees waiver. There is no such extra fees taken as development fees, lab fees or other compulsory charges. There is only tuition fees (2 lakhs/year ) and hostel fees (80k/ year)

Campus Life

4

Campus life is really good. A lot of places there for socializing with others. And the events conducted also promote socializing with others. There are a lot of clubs to join from, each club has its own recruitment process. There are both tech clubs and cultural clubs. They give significant impact on the person's skills. Cricket, football, hockey, tennis, badminton training is given in campus, with inductions and good coaches. The library here is really great environment to study and work. The collection of books is really great.

Hostel Facilities

4

The host facility is pretty good. It is very affordable. Not so strict and give us good liberty. The quality of food is rather mediocre, and vast room for improvement is there. Good speed Wifi facility is available throughout hostel. And 600mbps lan connection is provided to each room. Paid good quality laundry services available.

Admission

The admission to this college is only through JOSAA. Which is on the basis of JEE ADVANCE ranking. I chose this college because it has a strong alumni and a good reputation. I preferred it over other colleges, because i was getting electrical engineering here. The top 7 iits are much better than this college. However they require a very good rank.

Faculty

2

The faculty to student ratio is 1:140. The faculty dont maintain any relationship with the students, however most faculty are easily approachable to clear ur doubts or queries. Mr SP Tiwari was a very good maths teacher, most of the students understood what he is teaching. Whereas my electrical teacher Mr. Sounyabrata is not so good at teaching, all though he is very knowledgeable. His teaching style is not upto the mark. Most of the faculty are not so good.

Remarks:

The college should improve its status. The course curriculum is quite outdated, we are still busy in C and C++. No one is focusing on emerging programming languages like Python. The exam structure is quite simple. First we have mid semester exams of 30 marks then there comes the semester exams. The semester exam question paper consist of 8 questions in which we have to answer any 5. We people are not getting the knowledge. we are just passing the exams.

College is good in sense of presence around the corporate network. Efforts is required to cope up with the academic. BIT has been known for its extend of academia. Campus is lush green but in summers water scarcity may be faced.

People who have positive experiences tend to pat themselves on the back for choosing wisely and getting their money's worth. But people who haven't had those positive experiences tend to want to put things right, and to "warn off" anyone thinking about making the same decision.

A negative aspect is that its not present in metro location and is mostly semi urban...So students do not get a lot of exposure and experience to big companies and miss on certain chances....A positive aspect is that this colleges leaves everything to students so students are made self dependent..

Remarks:

My overall experience in this college has been quite moderate till date. One of the biggest problems one will face is that the library, computer centre and the student activity centre are not operational 24/7 till date, Another problem is never ending construction work is quite nagging and the continuous motion of the heavy vehicles due to that construction throughout the campus makes the campus appear more or less like an under-construction site than a college. Good college, Equipped with moderate infrastructure, which is in a state of progress. Placements are good. Opportunities are available in different fields but you will have to grasp them without procrastination.
