Remarks

So far it is 50-50. Curriculum is upgraded. All the faculties are not good. Expense is less. Placements are not 100%. Less expousure to extra curricular activities and hobbies, sports etc. Alumni network is poor.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is like other colleges. Exam structure is semester based. Marking system is percentage based. Choice of Optional subjects are less though. Practical is quite good. Exam pattern is lengthy.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement was not good at 2017. But now it has improved tremendously. PSU like powergrid, oil india, nrl, bcpl, bhel recruits from college. Private companies like emami, dabur etc and other IT companies also recruits from this college. Yes, internships are provided in private, psu and other govt institutes. Very few of them gives stipends.

College Events

2.5

A techno cultural festival is celebrated in our college. The name of the techno cultural festival is phoenix. This is a 3 day long festival and series of events organised during this time. Technical Events like robotics, architectural, techno seminars etc, gaming events, painting, singing, dancing, personality hunt, photography all events are organised.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is one of the cheapest as it is a government funded college. Tution fee and hostel fees are very less and pocket friendly. It is about 1.5lkh for 4 years excluding hostel charges. One can pay this with scholarship money provided by government or by doing any part time job like private tution.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not availed any scholarships provided by my college. But there are many scholarships available. Scholarship is given to students with 85% marks in higher secondary. Other scholarships are there for minority, sc, st and obc candidates.

Campus Life

2.5

Extracurricular activities are not verymuch supported by the college. There is a hobby centre which is shared by robotics and painting people both. Labs are not very well equipped and labs are over crowded all the times as instruments are limited. There is only one common indoor playground that too in boys common room and can't be used all the times.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes. Well hostels are old and not very well equipped. There is no reading room and no play room. Visitor room and dinning and kitchens are untidy. And building is over crowded. No well maintained bathrooms.

Alumni/Alumna

Not at all. There is no alumni network. Not helpful at all. No alumni meets held in college. Old alumni just make dona 4th ions sometimes but for jobs no one helps. Alumni network is very weak. Not helpful.

Faculty

2.5

Faculties are qulalified. Most of them are p.hd or m.tech from premier institutions like iits and nits. Some of them are recruited by TEQUIP on contract basis. Though some faculties have higher qualifications but teaching is little poor.

Placement of NIT silchar is pretty good. Average package is around 12 Lpa. Although after corona the placement dropped but still it is good. Many big tech companies visit during placement for full time and internship. Core companies also visits for different roles. During our placement season it happens generally after 7th semester. Generally criteria for sitting in any company varies based on cgpa and sometimes 10th and 12th marks depends on company to company generally it is 6 or 7 or 8 cgpa. Good it companies offer 20-30lpa and lowest offer was 6th lpa.
