Mtech in IIT Kharagpur (Ocean Engineering) Worth or not?

I did my btech from Cochin University of Science and Technology in Naval Architecture.So it's most suitable PG for me and Curriculum is good here. Curriculum here helps you to understand what industry needs and as a naval architect what all important informations you should know regarding your job or research. I would say they should include for software based electives like grasshopper,autocad,maxsurf etc . Exams happens during October and November 1st semester.Difficulty level is moderate only .

Some students went to abroad and got stipend about 30k per month,inside India many wide opportunities are there. In coastal areas of India my great shipyards are there and many went to GRSE,MDL ,NSTL etc. Projects include doing towing tank experiments,visits etc Overall experience was good.

For Mtech last semester itself placement starts,you can also apply off campus before that too. Many companies visit here like Indian Register of shipping, L&T etc..average package is around 10-12 lakh LPA . highest 25LPA Lowest 6LPA 100% PLACEMENT for previous batches. I like to do a career in industries.

Semester based fees varies on each semester. First semester -63000/- includes around 20000/- for hostel ,around 5000 for other facilities remaining for tution fees. Category based fees reduction is not there in PG from my knowledge. We will get a stipend around 12400/- everymonth for doing PG through GATE.

Spring fest (January) Kshitij (near June) Illumination (October Diwali) We are having one of largest libraries in India with lot of books and facilities. Classrooms are air conditioned,projector,mic and other facilities are available Sport and extracurricular activities are very active in side campus. Social groups and clubs of different ideas are present here which will definitely impact your student life and follow your passion.

Hostel facility is bad ( not about new hostel which is provided to sponsored,LLM and some other course students). Facilities are very less , actually Rooms are changed to dual occupancy recently it was single room earlier so it's congested.2neighbouring rooms have a common bathroom ( condition of bathrooms are very bad). Cleaning is there in every week but conditions are bad as it's very old building. Meals quality is average,you won't get good piece chicken if your a non veg guy like me.some month menu is the worst .But overall it's adjustable. Hostel registration process was too bad,long queue,I stand there for 4hours least .Even I this century they are doing all paper works ! Hostel fees is affordable 20000/-

I didn't applied for any other college, actually mtech in Naval Architecture and ocean Engineering is available in IIT Madras and Kharagpur, kharagpur provides more holistic course rather than specialisation on one topic like Madras. So I chose kharagpur over Madras. Admission to PG here is through GATE exam.if you are getting a score under 500 in Naval Architecture Gate then you can get here. Admission experience was smooth although they ask for many medical details and tests .

Faculty to student ratio for my course 7:15( as other btech students are also taking electives with us) .student number may increase upto 40 if we include btech dual degree also.Faculty student relationship is good ,they are very helpfull.They are always approachable and helpful. I like almost all faculties here who taught me till,includes O.P Shah, Ritwik Goshal ,D Sen and many others. Reason I like them is there experience and teaching ability.All are best faculties there. I don't like any faculty there. 2sem exams in first year which includes 2mid sem also ,so total 4 exams in 1 year. They are not that easy but I don't consider them hard also ,a medium toughness only . Till now no one failed in my batch.course curriculum is so relevant and helpful to know what's the industry needs.
