- I liked the faculties of my class they are very cooperative and helpful
- I like the sports facilities of the campus there are various sports blocks for students to play
Dislikes
- the campus i s very big so from hostel to other campus for classes by walking is very tiring
- the food worst ever like some food comes with insects with it
- the drainage system of the college is not good it clogs during rainfall
Course Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum is very flexible, we have choices in the elective subjects. In the first year, we are being taught about the same physics, chemistry, and mathematics, which is old college type so I feel it lacks at some point. The area of improvement is the part where we opted for computer science, but we are being taught PCM. The harsh schedule is also a major con. We have sports and yoga classes after lunch. The difficulty increases when we have exams in the afternoon not morning.
Internships Opportunities
There are companies like Infosys and Tata that offer internships. One of my locality brothers studying in kiit 3rd year is doing an internship in which the company is paying him 1 lakh per month, they had to do many projects in it like creating menu UI for the company etc.
Placement Experience
From the 6th sem, one is eligible for campus placements the percentage of the student getting placed is approx 70 per cent.
Some prominent companies are
- Tata
- Wipro
- Google.
The highest package last year was 56 lpa and the average was around 8-9 lpa. I plan to take the gate exam and pursue a Mtech degree for better career options.
Fees and Financial Aid
My yearly fee is Rs. 520,000, and my per semester fee is Rs.265,000, of which Rs.200,000 is the institutional fee, Rs.40,000 is the hostel fee, and Rs.24,000 is the mess fee. The hostel fee varies depending on the type of hostel a student chooses. For instance, mine is a 3-bed AC, so it costs this much, but a 3-bed non-AC will cost only Rs.28,000. However, the mess charges remain the same for everyone. For those opting for 2-bed AC or 2-bed AC premium, the cost will be higher.
The college also charges a one-time hostel fee of Rs.15,000. After the exam, for seat booking, I had to pay Rs.35,000, and for registration, they charged Rs.75,000. Fees vary, and my SC candidate friend had a fee waiver of up to 50%.
In terms of scholarships, there are a few. If your rank is below 1000, 15% of the first-year fee will be waived, and a reward of Rs.10,000 will be credited to the student's bank account every month with conditions of 75% attendance and a CGPA above 7.5. Other scholarships include Rs.5,000 per month for the batch topper, and there are need-based scholarships for which students can talk to the administration.
Campus Life
The college has many extracurricular facilities. KIIT holds a fest in the month of February. All the classrooms are well furnished with AC. There are many sports complexes with different sports facilities. Students also run ksac which is a kiits club organization any student can join ksac then he can choose various other clubs he likes eg photography, drama etc.
Hostel Facilities
Our hostel has a reading room with many books, it has a swimming pool and a sports complex. For the registration process, we had to pay a one-time fee of 15000 Rs and its quite affordable but the hostel maintains strict discipline they charge fine a lot. The mess food is not so good in taste sometimes we can see insects inside the food which is the worst side of staying in the hostel.
Admission
I gave KIITEE on March 28 (my entrance to the college). They conducted it in various phases, and I gave it in phase 1, getting CSE during counselling on the first go. I also got CSE in SRM, but since it was in the south, it was too far from my home, so I didn’t enrol. Additionally, the intake is larger at SRM compared to KIIT.
I couldn't get into a government college because I lacked focus in +2 and got distracted. For admission to KIIT, one has to either give JEE or KIITEE. I gave KIITEE, a 450-mark exam with a 3.5-hour MCQ-based format. Based on the result, for seat holding, KIIT charges Rs. 35,000.
Faculty
- The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:66. The faculty and student relationship depends on the classes we have a good bond with our teachers.
- Every class have a subject teacher who is also the mentor of the class and the assigned students. They are assigned to listen and solve every query of the student whatever it may be and my mentor does it well.
- Our mentor's name is maam Bb Kar she is also our chemistry faculty.
- I like all my faculties they are very good as compared to what I hear from my batchmates about their faculty mentors.
- Recently we had mid sem of 20 marks and we will have 50 marks at the end sem in December and 30 marks as internal which the teacher will decide so in a total of 100 marks per subject.
