Course Curriculum Overview
Examinations are frequent and difficult, and the course syllabus is vast. However, our coursework is outdated and only helps in preparation for the GATE examination. Self study in interests is required for preparing oneself for industry.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements from 7th semester. Over one hunder companies visit the campus every year and nearly 85-90% placement is achieved every year, varying with different economic conditions of every year. However, even in recession the institute has done well for itself in placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
My year wise fees are Rs 1,81,200/- which is equally divided over two semesters. Tution is Rs 62500 per semester, admission fee is Rs 3500 one time payment, caution money is Rs 10,000, also individually for each semester we have a mess charge which ranges from Rs 14000 to Rs 20000 depending on which Hall has been allocated. Laboratory fee is 2000, Library Charge is 1200, training and placement fee is 1500, electricity and water charge is 1700, examination fees is 1200. Convocation and alumni activity is one time charge of Rs 1000, internet charge is Rs 3000, and hostel room rent is Rs 10000. For SC/ST/students with family income less than Rs 1 Lakh per annum, the tution fees is waived one hundred percent. For students with family income between Rs 1Lakh and Rs 5Lakh per annum, the tution fees is waived two-thirds. We also make a contribution of Rs 2500 to the Student Activity Fund. The fees are increased as of 2024-2025 session and whether they will continue to increase in the future is not known as of now.
Campus Life
The tech clubs are excellent, and we have a yearly tech fest called Aarohan and a cultural fest called Recstacy. Both are held with a huge budget with several popular sponsors. Social life is vibrant and diverse. Library facilities are restricted up to 8pm at night.
Hostel Facilities
We are provided a hostel room. The con is that it is three people to a room and the mess food quality is quite poor. Most of the students opt to eat in canteens since on most days mess food is inedible.
Admission
I got an admission to BITS Pilani as well, but I chose this college since the fees for BITS Pilani was too high. Overall I had a good experience with the college and it beats most other engineering colleges in WB by a large margin, except IIT KGP.
Faculty
The class size is around 80-100 on average. Most faculty are quite good, while some are excellent and a few are not up to mark in terms of teaching. Examinations are frequent and rigorous, and need continuous study to excel.
