Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was okayish. Some subjects were interesting but it became more like not maths but a subject where you just had to mug up the theorems and vomit it on the answer sheets. The other subjects were good. They were numerical and concept based.
Placement Experience
The college has a separate placement cell but the placements offered to students in our course are not at all related with our course. We were offered sales job in banks, and similar ones. But for the BCom students, college does provide jobs in MNCs. But if i talk about our course, the placements department wa squite a let down.
Fees and Financial Aid
The per semester fees for my course (BSc Mathematics Hons) ranged between 16,500 to 20,000 in the 6 semesters that I had studied in the college. The overall approximate fees can be estimated to be around 1,20,000. There are charges for computer and other lab subjects of you opt those subjects as your general electives.
Campus Life
The college organises various events, fests and seminars, making sure that the students are aware of everything going on in our vicinity, starting from women empowerment to national service scheme. The college also takes part in fests and competitions happening across various colleges all across the city.
Admission
Since ours was a COVID batch, our admission process was completely online. We just filled the form online and based on the Best of 4 marks we had received in our 12th, the admission was given. The cutoff was 90% for our course when we took our admission but is 65% around now as we could get to know
Faculty
The professors in the college have always been very helpful and cooperative. They have always tried to make learning easier for us and have tried to meet new trends and overcome every challenge. The college is affiliated to the Calcutta University which is well known for its strict marking scheme and providing supplements to the students time and again. Well if one studies consistently throughout the year, they will pass. But the class strength is limited enough so that the professors can give personal attention to each student (in our course). The office staff is also very cooperative.
