What Students Say
Likes
- Nothing except the college being affordable to be honest.
Dislikes
- You can find wayyyy better options if you're willing to put a little bit more money into it.
- The placements are a gimmick, most of the publicised great placements are off campus placements they put their brand on
- The campus is so small, it's not tiny but relative to the amount of students here which is 25k+ it is very small and congested, just one building for so many courses.
Course Curriculum Overview
It's less about the curriculum and more about the affordability of this course that led me to this college. The curriculum is extremely irrelevant and outdated. The electives are good but why are we studying circuits and microprocessors even in the end of second year. So many useless subjects for a computer science degree. Ai and ml should have been included in the first or the second semester itself but no they added it way too late in 5th semester, third year. We weren't familiar with any language except c language for the whole entirety of first year that is an outdated language that no one uses. Could've just started from python or c++. Teaching is boring just like any other college you have to practise self study to pass the exams. Just attending the lectures won't be enough. They would make you suffer for less than 75% attendance, not in the first year because they don't want you to walk away but in the third year when you're stuck ????, such a great tactic.
Fees and Financial Aid
The feeling that I have mentioned is what I'm paying after all the applicable scholarships. There are multiple scholarships. For example if your family is from an army background there's 5 percent scholarship for that, there is a 5 percent girl child scholarship, 10 percent siblings scholarship if you and your sibling both study in the same university let it be hill or deemed. If you're from uttarakhand or any other hilly states like the seven sisters, j&k, ladakh or Himachal you would get 25% scholarship. And if you scored higher than 70% in your 12th examination you would get a scholarship, it has a 5% increase when you get 5% higher. Fir example someone with 85% would get more scholarship than someone with 70%. They are categorised like 70-74% ,75-80%, 81-85% and so on until 95%>. You can avail all these scholarships at the same time if you're eligible. The course fee increases every year.
Campus Life
There are multiple fests around the year but the major one is grafest. It is held in the deemed to be University and hill University students are allowed there. It is held in the middle to end of May. then there are diwali fests, and stuff. Tech fests, competitions etc. Christmas carnivals and dandiya too. Library is bad here, only books of your course are allowed to be issues to you, staff there is pretty rude. And you can't use your phone without the librarian interrupting you. There are clubs you can enroll in for music, dance, acting, writing, etc.
Admission
I was going to get an admission in Tula's institute, it was cheaper and the campus was wayy better. But I didn't because it didn't have a great placement record so I went with my current college. I thought the placement here is better but nope, pretty much the same. There's just so much crowd here. There are 2000+ students in my batch of 2026. I don't know how they would provide all these students with a placement. They can't. The admission process is simple no exam, just 60%+ marks in 12th in pcm. That's it
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is probably 1:200, it's very bad. The faculties are not approachable, they have an ego problem. And the class size is massive in BTech, can't say the same about other courses but in BTech it's 70+ students in every class and they merge classes and then there's 160+ students in the same lecture theatre taught but just one faculty. There are exams twice in a semester and teachers fail the students in practicals, they don't even try to make you pass they want you to fail almost like someone told them to fail as many students as possible. Half of my class failed in 3rd semester data structures internal practical. That's right you can fail in INTERNAL PRACTICALS in this college. The course curriculum has not been updated since 2005 so you can imagine...
