Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is strong, covering core CS, cloud, and microprocessors—one reason I chose this course. It prepares well for real-world skills. Pros: relevant subjects, good structure, fair exams. Cons: needs more hands-on projects and updated tools. Exams are moderately difficult and held at regular intervals.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college offers decent internship opportunities. Visa doesn’t make placements but selects students for internships with a good stipend. Roles usually involve software development or data-related tasks. Students work on real projects like building small modules, debugging systems, or writing automation scripts, which helps them gain practical experience and industry exposure.

Placement Experience

5

Students become eligible for placements in the 7th sem. Recently, Visa visited our college but didn’t make any offers. The highest package in 2024 was 84 LPA, while the average is around 4 LPA. Nearly 80% of students get placed across different companies. After my degree, I plan to build strong tech skills and aim for a good software developer role.

Fees and Financial Aid

year-wise fees , i paid to my college is 2,50,000. * Tuition fee - 1,13,000 * Library fee - 3,500 * Examination fee - 4,500 * Student Welfare charges - 750 * Sports - 500 *Online Information System Charge - 500 *Transportation Charges - 1,700

Campus Life

5

Campus life is lively with events like the technical fest Student Grafest held yearly. The library has a wide range of books and journals, covering all major subjects. Classrooms are well-equipped with good technological facilities. Sports and extracurricular activities are held regularly, giving students many opportunities. Several student-run clubs operate on campus, helping students build skills, confidence, and social connections.

Admission

I chose this college because it offered better faculty, facilities, and a strong CS curriculum compared to the others I applied to. I also had a confirmed admission in one more college but preferred this one for its placement support. I missed one higher-cutoff college by a few marks. The admission process here is simple—merit-based through CET/JEE scores with clear cutoffs and smooth counseling.

Faculty

4

The faculty in our college is supportive and approachable, with a good faculty-student ratio. I especially liked Mr. Anil Desai Baburao—very motivating and experienced, he taught me in first year and inspired me a lot. The course structure is relevant, and exams are moderately easy with fair marking and good pass rates.

Night Life

5

Nightlife around campus is calm but enjoyable. I go to the gym daily around 6 PM, and many students walk on the roads in the evening. Cafes nearby are good for relaxing. Campus hours are 8 AM to 6 PM, with hostels following similar entry rules. Popular hangout spots include the open auditorium, Wi-Fi zone, main ground, and sports arena. The area around college is generally safe to roam at night.

Placement Experience:

Since CSW students as in UPES School of Computer Science students are 1200+, I think 60 percent students do get placements. Now the criteria is that students get a strong bandwith in placements that it is not at all easy to become a part of placements as students carrying back in 3rd year are not allowed to appear for any job interview at the university.

UPES students have to be ready in the last year as both the semester placements activities keeps on having its toll. Also, a student qualified for a placement can only appear for the interview on the companies that are offering a 2x paycheck as otherwise once the placements are done means done at UPES.

UPES has seen placements in range of 50 lakhs and more and that because of the stupendous tie-ups that our placement cell has seen. Our CSE entries batch size is of 1200 and out of which 600 were placed with an average salary of 18 lakhs and now one can debate if any other college in Uttarakhand apart from IIT Roorkee provide such placements.

Placement Experience:

Being an IIT, the campus placements are pretty good. Over 90% of the batch gets placed, with a median of 20LPA. All major tech, financial and management companies come for placements. Highest package generally goes up to 2 crores each year, though this is an international offer. The highest domestic package is around 80LPA. These offers are generally for the quant offered by HFTs (High frequency trading), which refers to quantitative analysis in stock trading. The placement season is in first sem of 4th year, and if you have a good resume with 8+ CGPA, you are all set to go. I plan on sitting for AI-ML placements.
