Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is very good as for my course (B.com(hons)).It definitely helped me understand the real world of scenario of economics, finanace and commerce.Curriculum also includes a part of computer basics needed for industrial exposure. The frequency and timing of exams are also good there is sufficient time to complete the syllabus and revise for semester exams ,but for class test and assignments you don't get enough time to prepare. But overall it is fine.
Fees and Financial Aid
Shyam lal college(DU) is a very good college from my point of view in every sense academics and extra-curricular activities included. Teacher's are friendly. College is definitely value for money, for b.com(hons) 1st year the the fee is just about Rs.20000/- including everything. For 2nd and 3rd year it gradually increses by 10%.
Campus Life
Their are various annual fests and job and internship fairs organised in college campus. Societies such as enactus, comblaze, ecoclubs organise various annual fests. They bring famous singers and dancers for college fests also they organise various cultural program ocassionaly such as garba nights, chef nights, etc, for students. Library of SLC(M) is pretty big with a large number of journals, everyday magazines, and newspapers.Students don't need to buy books for college as they can borrow them from library for free. Their are many labs in the college like computer, phsics and chemistry labs, equibbed with all the basic equipments.
Admission
I applied to various other north campus colleges of delhi umiversity, as per my assessment my marks were not enough as a general category student to clear the cutoff of top colleges like sri ram college of commerce, hindu college, etc. These colleges are much better than the college I am currently in they, have better faculties, better placement and better alumni network. admission process is pretty easy one has to register for the cuet (common university entrance test) (UG) the national level exam. Opt out four subjects one language and three other major subject one has studied in class XII. After the result of cuet one has to fill the online admission form on (DU) website and fill a preference of colleges they want and then wait for the university rounds. If selected they can freeze or upgrade their selection once they freeze their selection they just need to pay the admission fees/first year fees and that's it.
Faculty
The best part of this college is faculty members ,they are friendly helpful, well trained, educated and won't take any off days. They are very approachable and kind. I myself had a very pleasant experience from the faculty members. Faculty of commerce was the best. Talking about the exams their are internals taken by the relevant subject teachers, like class test, presentation, group discussions, etc. At the end of semester their are semester exams which are easy if one has solved tenures, and scoring is pretty easy in these exams.
