Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The factor that actually influenced my decision was my interest in forensic science and also how prestigious NFSU has been for the past few years. My father also saw the mention of nfsu in newspaper for forensic science being promoted in india so he suggested me to take this course. The curriculum prepares us well for the real world applications and further academic pursuits if you seek advice with the teacher as they are always happy to help. The exams are very frequent, they are always going on every month, there are 2 teaching assessments, 1 mid semester exams and 1 end semester exams. So 4 type of exams in a semesters.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

A lot of big companies do come in our college for placements but they are only there for cyber security graduates and cyber department. I haven't gotten any information about the placement upportunities for forensic science graduates yet. There are always projects going on for students to participate in, as i am also focusing in the research aspect of forensic science. I have gotten a lot of positive encouragement from my professors, so i dont feel like that only placement is one aspect of doing anything meaningful after graduation. The do give one and half month of internship opportunities in different Forensic science laboratories, police station and other government agencies as well.

Fees and Financial Aid

During the time of admission, i paid total Rs 74000 for my 1st semester in which i had to give 7500 caution deposit, 1500 examination fee and 65000 tuition fee. The total fees for the whole course will come around Rs 2,66,000 and it is for all the categories, there is no fee relaxation for SC,ST OR OBC but also no price hike for management quota fees. During my counselling they told me "EVERY STUDENT IS EQUAL FOR US".As per my knowledge the fees shouldn't increase anytime soon. There is no scholarship as of yet started in the college, even though the college is under the ministery of home affairs. It still doesn't provide scholarship to appreciate good merit students.

Campus Life

3.5

We have NFSU day on 5 october but this year there was no annual or sports day around that time because the whole campus was under staffed. The books and journals are really good, but for the journals we have to have online access as the library is small so only important books are kept there. The facilites and technologies for labs of some subjects is really high definition and is one of a kind i.e our fingerprint and questioned documents department. Some labs are still being renovated and getting cleaned so there is a lot of way to go in that aspect for other labs in the campus. There are a lot of social groups ranging from management clubs, sports club, writing clubs, educational clubs and they all dedicate their time for the betterment of student life experience.

Admission

I applied for CUET PG and NFAT exam. I cleared both exams, CUET PG was for forensic science in DU,BHU and other govt. Colleges, i had enough marks to take admission in any of these colleges but either the course was underdeveloped in some colleges like DU or the college was too far from my home like BHU. I cleared NFAT as well, you need to have high rank to clear this exam, approximately under 100 to secure safe admission in gandhinagar or delhi campus of NFSU with general category. The admission experience was good with NFSU as they announced result very early but their exam centers were really bad but CUET exam centers were really good.

Faculty

4

The faculty for this year has been very less but now they are constantly hiring faculties regularly so it won't take much time before we will have enough faculties. The exams are pretty straight forward and hardly any student fails the exam, the courses are pretty much easy to get used to with practical knowledge. The course curriculum changed this year as well and it has become much more relevant and practical based. A lot of theory subjects has been compressed so as to not burden students.

Other Applied Colleges

Delhi University - [DU] | Master of Science [M.Sc] (Forensic Science)

The course in DU is under anthropology department which doesn't provide that much exposure to forensic science.

Campus placements are offered but I am still in my first year so I have no idea. Students usually go for higher studies (PhD) after master's. Clearing entrances becomes a task. They d offer campus placements it's not that intense as it should be.
