Remarks

Don't expect too much. Your college life will be ordinary in terms of experiences. You have to be academically inclined to enjoy this college. If you're studious and like to be buried in books you won't have problems. If you come here with the expectation of a happening DU life, that won't happen. Your routine will be attending classes at 8:30 in the morning till 3-3:30. After that, you have the whole day with you. Go out, explore Delhi (there's a lot to see!), join some class or go back home and study it's up to you. You'll pass fairly if you study in the prep leaves before exams. The rest of the time is what you have to plan. If you're from outside Delhi, you might find adjusting difficult in the first year but once you get habituated with the IP environment, you start liking it. Your opinions about girls will change after coming here in every way. You will find all kinds of women and its refreshing as the first year. After that, you will become one of those women and you will enjoy that about yourself.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum for Computer Science over three years is good, inclusive of most important subjects you need to know to be at par in the field but you won't get much from just attending classes. You would require help from the internet and seniors (if you are lucky to get nice ones).

Placement Experience

2

You should join the course only if you are interested in studying the subject and wish to do masters in it. Most students go for MCA or MSc after this. Internships are provided from time to time by the Placement Cell. The cell is very active in providing opportunities. Though most good job opportunities are for commerce students, CS people can find good internships too. You can always go for off-campus placements for companies like HCL, TCS, etc. Chances of getting hired are good if you have good coding skills.

College Events

0.5

There will be a College Day, Sports Day, Department fest and College fest -Shruti. It is not at par with North campus college fests so yes you may find it a little boring. It has tremendously improved in the last two years though. Seminars and talks are arranged on different topics of computer science but most of them aren't very productive.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In the first year, total fees are 40,000. In later years it is around 35-38,000. Examination fee of around Rs.1000 is submitted at the end of each semester. If you take a hostel it costs around Rs. 1,30,000 per year. You can also live in a PG around the college (lesser restrictions). Pg costs vary from 7000 in GTB to 10-15000 in North campus and Civil Lines.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship information can be availed from the official website. Here's the link. www.ipcollege.ac.in

Campus Life

5

Campus life is boring if you are expecting a typical 'DU life'. You'll have to spice it up yourself. Initially, co-ed students might find it difficult to adjust in an all-girls environment but by the end of the third year, I got pretty used to it. The good part of being in an all-girls college is freedom and safety. There is no restriction on where to go and how to sit and how to talk. Girls are free to wear anything and do anything. If you like a peaceful place, this college is the place to be. You can enjoy its lawns and greenery and chat. You can even party on the grounds. We ordered food online to the college and danced on the grounds There are competitions organized by the other departments like writing, paper presentations, debates, quiz, etc. You can take part in those. You can join Abhivyakti or Afroza for drama and dance. There are several societies for art, photography, women's development, etc. See if you can manage them with class schedules because no attendance waiver is given for extra activities. Labs are okay. there are three computer labs with around 30 systems but you can't use it after classes. The library is well furnished and you'll love it if you're a book lover. Won't always have all course books but that's not much of an issue. The canteen is hygienic but food items are limited and though not bad but not very delicious. For food, the outside buntewala uncle will become your god.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are approachable, you will meet some of them on the first day itself. Most of them are helpful. Just be polite and good with them.

Admission

Filled the DU UG application form, that arrives around March. Some courses require entrance exams like BMMMC but CS honors were based on the cutoff. I cleared the third or fourth cutoff list with around 94% as my best of four. (Physics was mandatory to include in the best of four for CS honors back in 2016.) Cutoff lists come near the end of June usually.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The core subjects are very well divided, the main problem arises with the other additional subjects which requires efforts as same as the other subject even though they don't hold any importance as such. Maybe reducing other subject or making them practical based instead of theory based would be helpful.

The placements of my college are moderate as the average package is ?6.5 lakhs and the highest package is around ?23.02 lakhs . Many prestigious companies like delloite, accenture have held various placement sessions in DRC and it's overall a good to place for companies to get high skilled students. The placement cell is very active too which makes it possible for our college to get many internships and placements opportunities.

The Fest organised by this college is Priyadarshini and the annual fest Rajnigandha. The Fest are not great in comparison to other du college and are not that much celebrated. There are many different kinds books present in library like literature,Hindi, Chemistry, Maths, zoology, biology, botany, political science, History Geography the books are only alloted till 12pm and only for 15 days after that you will be charged if book is not returned Sports and Extracurricular are good but classrooms are not that great most projectors in classrooms don't work . There are many good societies in college like jamini the art society and others but joining has caused students to leave their classes which affects them academically

The placements cell Avenues regarding the placement offers coming to the college. Major companies of the job market come to the campus for recruitment like KPMG, deloitte, zepto, EY, ZS Associates and many more. The students from the final year itself gets eligible for placements. Around 30-40% students get the palcements through the placement drive. The highest package during the last palcement season was around 18 to 20LPA, while the average was 7 to 8LPA. I will certainly go for higher studies in operational research.
