IIT KGP:unhinged from the world

i choose this course as this has some of the unique subjects which i would be taught and no otehr department is taught.also this is a really famous curriculum in foreign and almost all ivy league universities provide this course nbut in india IIT kgp provided this and since a long time so here the proff are really experienced in their domain and influenced by the alumni network of this department. in my opinion this course has most application in real life coz as an industrial engineer i need to know how the industry works how to deal with clients what all problems come and how to optimistically and practically solve it.the exposure this branch gives to their students is indeed the best and also practical in real life.we learn engineering along with management which gives the best fusion for a successful entrepreuneur.also we can work in non core field like AI ML and find its applications in our core field which is practical.

there are lot of companies and institutes which provide internships. proffessor provide recommendation letters so students can go and research under their field for 1-2 months inside india or aborad also companies provide internships paid or unpaid work from home or in a physical office inside india or outside india

students become eligible from 3rd yr starting campus placements internships provided from 2nd yr all A tier companies in each domain come to IIT kgp to recruit IITians highest package goes around 2cr+ and average around 12-15lpa some students try to build a startup or pursue further studies like master mba or upsc so they also dont need a job almost 70-80% sit in placement percentage of students getting placement is 70-80% sitting in placement companies like big 3 come for finance and some banking companies also come like axis band icici bank also companies related to IT software come apple google microsoft quant companies also come during placement period some of the core compaineis related to each dep come all prestigious big companies MNCs come my plans after getting the degree i dont know. i focus on present and learning new skills and building networks and enjoying my life. job isnt a necessity i want to break this misconception of coming to IIT just for job and having a CDC

Every student irrespective of course enrolled who is general male pays about 12-15 lakh in total on academics and hostel fees. tution fees is 1 lakh per semester admission fees and registration fees once confirmed your seat in a particular iit is returned back which is about 35k development lab fees is about 20k which is per year all my batchmates are general male/female so they pay same fees as me sc/st/obc donot pay tution fees but other type of fees are mandatory many scholarships provided by college and external sources to make it affordable to poor and provide merit benefits to toppers.

Kshitij Shaurya and Spring fest are major fests conducted annually by iit kgp.kshitij is annual tech fest. shaurya is annual sports fest and spring fest is annual social and curricular fest. the library is asia's largest library with lots of books and space to hold students inside.there are lots of AC and non ac rooms in library where students can study. also during exams library is opened 24/7 so students can study anytime.the classrooms are air conditioned with projectors and a pc through which proffs can show ppts and slides also there are lots of blackboards for proff to solve the eqns.sports include football basketball squash badminton lawn tennis table tennis badminton cricket hockey athletics. there are extra curricular activities like music and health and fitness yoga and social service. there are lots of societies and clubs in iit kgp there are 2 types of clubs tech and socult socult inclueds comc drama and dance tech has business and robotics club

3 sharing lbs hall of residence. 9 indian toilet and 1 western toilet shared by 30 people. 6 shower stalls shared among 30 students.breakfast lunch dinner and snacks breakfast is trash and we get only single egg and 100 ml not so real milk lunch is decent if its chicken otherwise its only gravy no protein what is snack sugar water and bachi hui sabzi ke samosa 20k they take every semester for mess food and serve trash food i highly recommend only to get paneer and chicken from mess donot eat anything else there are better and affordable options out here to eat if you got a little money to spare for good nutrition and health renting a pg is shittiest decision a student can make in his career you get to make best friends for life get to do lot of bakchodi get to interact with seniors and get to jam every night have lots of fun everyday. you get to also learn to live independently and as a community you grow when you live with diffrent type of people from diffrent culture you get to know.

i applied for BITS and IIT only. i was sure about getting an iit but if i was not introduced this department in right time i would have not known and chosen bits over iit.after i researched about this curriculum i found it really intresting also talked to many alumnis of iit i made this decision of choosing bits cse over iit kgp IM branch no i didnt get rejected from a college as i was goal oriented in clearing jee and as a backup option kept bits in place so i gave bitsat.admisiion process of colleges like iit nit and otehr state colleges is after the jee advanced result there is a jossaaa council which conducts this and it takes place online.also to give students a feel how this works they also provide you moke rounds.the students have to decide a priority in which they keep the respective colleges and branches and after they submit there priorities they float/freeze/slide. float is basically trying for an upper priority college in next round/freeze is locking the college.

my department faculties and some of the other proff i really like and they teach well and cooperative. some of the proff are really mean they dont provide slides and also teach really fast best faculties should be of my department really grateful to have them though our department courses will start in 3 sem i was really intrigued by how passionately they took our seminar and introduced us to our department. some core subjects which all the departments have have some really unhelpful proff there are midsem endsem and class test weightage is most for endsem then midsem then class test some proff give marks for attendence and some dont. also class test and lab test are important as they are graded on every test and then mean is taken. exams are generally easy for midsem and tough for endsem.thoguh we cant predict a definitive pattern for difficulty but if an exam comes tough the grading becomes relative as proff consider it not to go so harsh on us.
