Course Curriculum Overview
Many students pursue Bcom along with some other professional courses since only a Bcom degree does not guarantee placement. However under the new ccf curriculum diverse disciplines have been incorporated into the course which increases employability.
Internships Opportunities
Internship is done by students only because it has been made compulsory by the university. That internship is also not paid. On the contrary, students have to pay to do the internship. Overall opportunities are not good.
Fees and Financial Aid
At the time of admission a sum of 38000 was paid to the college including fees of first semester as well as admission fees and other such fees. Thereafter 19000 was to be paid for the 2nd semester. Fees of other departments like BA and BSc are much less while BBA has more fees. Also exam fees are more for general category students.
Campus Life
Almost no fests or annual events are organised by the college. Hence student engagement is very less. A library containing variety of books is available. Bcom has a separate departmental library. Do not expect a very happening college life
Hostel Facilities
Hostel forms are given by the college after admission. The girls hostel is near the college and distance is not much. However the facilities of the hostel are very poor. Basic hygiene is not maintained, rooms are not cleaned by hostel staff, washrooms are dirty, and the food quality is pathetic. Food is served only 2 times per day and that too food is not nutritious.
Admission
I applied to Goenka college of commerce and was selected in the last list. However by that time I had already taken admission in Scottish so it was not possible to change. Generally only board exam scores are considered for admission. Cutoff marks is 70%
Faculty
The faculty student ratio is good although the number of students is increasing each year. Most of the Faculty are approachable . In Bcom number of teachers is limited as the department is very small and it has started recently. However there are some teachers who rarely take classes properly or finish their portion of syllabus. Semester wise exams are conducted and also tutorial exams are held in college.
