Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course itself has been designed really good as there are always changes made to it after considering the suggestions from the students that have just cleared that semester. This helps the juniors alot .The date for examinations is not quite set well as once we had our exam the next day of our FRESHER's party which doesnot make any sense at all.The updated curriculum includes links and resources mentioned to study the same topic from bubt the video links are more than 10 year old made by proffesors of IIT's which doesnot keep the students engaged. The students are provided with the Course Handouts(CHO) at the beginning of their semesters so they can start their studies and go with thier own pace if they want to.The CHO also includes lecture-wise topics to be covered which really helps .

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The university doesnot directly provide any internships but keeps students informed about the government and other private opportunities in which students can enroll and try.A company from which the students get alot of opportunities is Reliance and the companies under it .The internship opportunities are generally of 6 months here and students usually don't look up for stipend but for experience (as told by alot of seniors). The university also asks you to study out of what they are teaching in the class to grab good opportunities because the course is designed for an average student.

Placement Experience

4

The campus provides placements to a decent level .On asking from alot of seniors,I got to know that the average package of B.E(CSE) is around 7-8lpa but the university also provides a chance to get placed for 20-40lps easily if you have the rght skills .I have talked to those people personally and they have confirmed their packages. The highest package that ever went was around 50lps as far as I am concerned.I have planned to aim for atleast 1lakh per month after getting my degree.I love what I have opted for here at the University and really enjoy it as I were are just few steps away from getting into the corporate worldand finally start earning

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise fees for my branch is Rs2,40,000 (i.e Rs1,20,000 per semester). So far the university does not provide a scholorship but constantly keeps students updated about the government or private scholorship schemes that are available. The fees for B.E(CSE with AI) is roughly around Rs2,90,000/year (i.e 1,45,000 per semester). Also there is an increase in the fees every year for for new comers but for us it remains the same for all the semesters. There

Campus Life

4

There are always some events being held by clubs in Chitkara and it really helps you socialize to an extent. The DJ night here for hostelers is quite famous and it takes place quite often. The library is filled with all the necessary books related to our course and one needs to carry their adhaar card with them to get verified at the reception to get books on lease.Every CSE classroom consists of a projector ,4 slider white boards,a black marker, a mic(optional). The sports ground here isn't well maintained as it gets wet even after slight rain and water gets collected in it due to its low ground level but the facilities for indoor games is quite decent although there is a need for more tables and equipments in there. The famous clubs/chapters in Chitkara are-ACM,Geeks for Geeks,Open-Source Chandigarh,Coding Ninjas and other local groups which are still in developing stage but actively host different events for students which are quite fun to participate in .

Admission

The I chose this college as my last option because all the collges near me were either badly managed or had really high fees but chitkara was an all rounder in these things and satisfied the gap .I didn't apply for other colleges as I knew people who had gone to each ones of those near me and everyone suggested me not to go there but it was opposite in case of Chitkara. The one university I was really inrterested in was Thapar University but its fees was around 24lakhs for 4 years and it wasn't really worth it.The admission process for my college is -60% in all PCM,must have given JEE mains but the admission happened in descending order like the person with the most percentage got admission first .

Faculty

3

Most of the faculty members donot care if the student understands the concept or not ,they entirely focus on completing the syllabus .There have been times when some teachers have been spotted learning HTML,CSS from a website itself in class(as they have expertise in a different field but are teaching an entirely different field due to lack of teachers ).The faculty that I personally along with my classmates loved the most is Dr Tejpal Sharma who is also our mentor. He explains everything with patience also guiding us about various things .He is are about the student psychology and knows his field really well.On the other hand the faculty that I didnot like was Mrs. Neha Sharma(currently teaching us Front-End but has expertise in Python). She has been spotted copy pasting code from a tutorial website and on being counter questioned about a thing in the same ,she doesnot have a reply and tells us by googling it.Even we taught her about a topic once in the class.

Other Applied Colleges

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology - [Thapar University] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

The fees and cutoff were high for a middle class to pay for.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
