Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is all application based and are very helpful for the placements. The credit based courses help students to concentrate on the subjects or stream they are interested in. Exams are scheduled with less or no gaps. Two internals and one sem end exam will be conducted every semester.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internships are usually left to students to find and complete the projects. College placement cell just provide us the information of available internship opportunities in different companies. A lot of companies provide intership here. Atleast one mandatory intership is must for a student. Stipend usually range from ?5k to ?95k.

Placement Experience

3.5

There is no 100% placement in the college. But students grab the best packages ranging from 20LPA to 5LPA. All the branches avail good packages with highest package being 45LPA. Reputed companies visit relating to various disciplines and domains. I am planning to get placed form the college placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearwise college fees is ?91000 and the yearwise 4 sharing hostel fees is ?88000 whereas the transportation fees is ?24000 which together is collected in the form of hostel fees as ?112000. Hostel fees for 3 sharing is ?100000, 2 sharing is ?125000 and 1 sharing is ?150000. Yearwise either the college or hostel fees is incremented. The development, lab fees etc are for particular students who will avail based on their behaviour and performance in the college. I entered to this college through KCET. The college fees for COMED-K students is ?150000 and for management students is ?200000. Other than that, students also get admitted directly to second year through DCET who have different feeling structure. Fees also depend on the course opted. Aided courses have a fees of ?40000. SNQ quota seets have fees of ?32000. All these fees are based on KCET fee structure. College asks for ?10000 during the time of admission.

Campus Life

3.5

There are two campuses at NIE. NIE North is for IT related branches and NIE South is for core branches. NIE North is is a new campus located at and industrial area and hence needs a lot of development relating to transportation, infrastructure etc. NIE South is in the city and hence the area of the campus is small but the social life is best here. College fest named as TechNIEks is conducted during mid year. Usually it lasts for 3 days. Mechanical fest is conducted seperately by the mechanical students. Both the campuses has vast library with easy access to all the books. College has we'll furnished classroom with projectors. Sports and extracurricular activities are very well supported.

Hostel Facilities

4

Both the campuses has the facilities of hostel for both boys and girls separately. There are rooms ranging from 1 sharing to 4 sharing with fees depending on the same. I am in a 4 sharing room as is it money saving and we get a lot of friends. For four sharing room, each student gets a cot, a wardrobe, a cupboard and a study table along with chair. In other room a small bed table is also provided. Hostel consists of a mess where food is served 4 times a day(morning breakfast, afternoon lunch, evening snacks and night dinner). Menu is adjustable. Fees is being collected yearly and all the amount has to be paid at once. Hostel is located inside the campus.

Admission

I had chosen this college due to its NIRF rank and the the cutoff for the admission. This college was my second preference and PES(Electronic City) was the first one. Since I didn't wait for the third round of KCET counselling, I had to get admitted to NIE which I had got in second round of counselling. The admission process went in ease. I only visited once and all the process was the done the same day along with hostel booking.

Faculty

3

There are a lot of lectures (visit website to know more). Also each course is assigned with different lectures for different sections. Less experienced lectures to particular subjects makes difficult for the students understand the concepts and get good grades.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our college (NHCE) is affiliated to VTU but it's autonomous college. I like mechanical engineering and my father is also a mechanical engineer which inspired me to mechanical engineering. It is a bit outdated, expect more applications of the concepts. As I said we have exams every month, the frequency is good and the difficulty of exams I mid to easy range.

Placement Experience:

Many top MNC's come to the college. Recently the placement opportunities has increased when compared to our batchs.Companies like TCS, Wipro, IBM, Infosys, SLK, Mphasis etc had given us the opportunity. The average package offer was 3.5lpa or 4lpa. The highest package known to me was 10lpa for a CS student not for us. The placements begins either at the end of 6th sem or in the beginning of 7th sem. Almost 60-70% of us were placed by the end of graduation but due to recession the onboarding was very late. Waited for more than a year to get onboarded.
