Course Curriculum Overview

3

Now there is change in syallabus for btech courses .Now we study advanted technologies here. The courses here are very much advanced so that which make me to choose the course here. Here the curriculum gives equal importance to theory and practical sessions which makes you good for the respective industry.Even though the courses are advanced students get very limited time period to study these courses which is one of the main drawback .Exams come in every 5 months and is very hard to score good marks .

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship opportunities are not provided by the college direcyly incase if you need an internship you can have one with the help of the clubs working in the college. Many students do internship in companies like Wipro,Infosys and many other companies and get a good knowledge about the Industry.Intership help the students to do their final year project in college

Placement Experience

4.5

Yes,Students will get placement from 7th semester. Many companies like Infosys,Wipro,TCS etc come for placement. Most of the companies hire in bulk from the college.Lowest CTC was 300k annually and highest CTC was 1000k annually.Almost 60 percentage students are got placed from here.Apart from placement many students prepare for all india exams like GATE,SSC JE etc

Fees and Financial Aid

As GCE Kannur is a government College fees is very less here. The fee scheme is different for students depending on their category .Tution Fees is almost 40000 rs for general category students in which 10000 rs paid annually. For other category students to tution fees is almost 2000 annually.Apart from tution fees registration fees, caution deposit, lab fees etc are to be paid at the beginning of the course,it will be around 15000 thousand for all students irrespective of the category. For students staying in hostel there will be an average hostel fee of 2500 monthly .

Campus Life

4.5

My overall experience in my college was so good .It is very easy to get friends here. The college makes the students here best citizens for the society. There many clubs like IEEE ,ISTE,ICS,ROBOCEK etc focusing on technology as well as voluntary organisations like NCC and NSS here.Tech fest are held annually here along with the programs organized by the clubs a National level techfest is organised in every 5 years. The college has a Central library as well as department libraries with a lot of technical journals.Classrooms have necessary facilities like Digital sceen board,Fans ,lights Enough benches ,plug points etc. The bolege has a big ground and many sports activities are done here.Art fests are also done here annually. The clubs here are organised by the students here which will affect in their professional life in a good way. S

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostels are run by the college there are two hostel. One for boys and one for girls .Boys hostel has two blocks and Girls hostel has 3 blocks.3 students share a room in hostel ,aroom has 3 light,2 fan ,2 shelf,3 bed,3 chair and 3 table and enough plug points. The hostel fees is affordable for everyone avg 2500 rs come as hostel bill monthly.Meals are provided in morning, noon , evening and at night.Non veg and vegetarian meals are served .Meals are cooked by kudumbasree woman's so the quality of food is great. Those who don't want college hostel can rent a PG .A lot of PG's are available nearby the college.

Admission

I have applied for many other colleges but this college was i chooses because this college has a good nirf ranking when compared to the other colleges I had applied like GCE Idukki,GCE wayanad etc. Also I was rejected from CET Trivandrum as my rank was not that good enough to get admitted there. To get admission in GCE Kannur there are numerous conditions like you must be student from Kerala,Must have passed Kerala engineering entrance exam within the cutoff rank to get admission letter from the college.

Faculty

4

The college provides BTech and MTech courses and thousands above students are studying here for them there faculties above 150 are here. There are faculties like Sivadasan sir wh teaches mathematics here he is the faculty I like the most .He teaches the concept crystal clear and has a friendly behaviour towards the students. There isn't any faculties i particularly don't like in this institution almost everyone have a friendly behaviour.Exams are bit too hard as it is engineering course . Students need good basics in mathematics and physics to score good marks in exams.

I chose this course because the curriculum covers key subjects like Python, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Deep Learning right from the early semesters. The inclusion of electives such as IoT, Cloud Computing, and NLP made it future-relevant and versatile.

Apart from ISRO many campanies like Texas Instruments, UTS, Mercedez , also come here for recruuitment. Many also opt for M.tech and MBA after graduation

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies - [KUFOS], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Food Technology)
Reviewed on May 11, 2024(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was never interested in engineering. I passed KEAM entrance exam. So my parents forced me to become an engineer. Since I was interested, I thought food technology might be a good branch in engineering. So I got admission in KUFOS through allotment. The course is actually good . In the 1st year, you study basic engineering, 2nd year onwards food related courses are taught. If you are a student who only have the intention to study you will find this college easy to adjust. They provide all facilities to study. There is no particular frequency for a semester. Even though academic calender is there for each batch it is not followed properly. In this college the course may last upto 4.5 years. Due to this reason the students ask the management to cut shot semester breaks so that they won't loose 1 year.

I only have postive thoughts about that campus. The campus helped me to remove my pre-occupations, inhibitions, fear etc. It gave a lot of memorable moments, large number of friends. The most special thing about the college is those memorable friendships with the faculties whos understand students very well.
