Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I have chosen this particular course (B.com Honours) because I felt like this is the course I can do for preparation of the future and career of mine. And curriculum here help me for the future planning of mine. Suggested improvement here that there should be more classes and less of period as there are several of periods at the beginning of the course. And two examination are taken in a year so the frequency of examinations are won in 6 months.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internships are given by the college in several companies to help students for future type and type and low paying as around Rs. 3000 to Rs. 4000. Physics also based on this internships and outcomes are taken from the results of the internship.

Placement Experience

2.5

Students are eligible from 6th semester to become for campus placement companies like Wipro, Infosys etc. visit our college for job vacancies. The highest package a student can get from here is around Rs 500000 and average packages around Rs. 220000. Around 30% to 40% students get job placements from this college and my plans after the college is to do MBA to boost my image to and get a better paying job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure in Gurdas college is is about Rs. 5000 for annum, sach fees includes caution fees registration fees admission fees includes fees etc. Most of my benchmates also spended the same amount of money as I paid(Rs. 5000). And as for the scholarship, students who scored more than 60% in class HS examination will get rupees 12000 under SVMCM scholarship. Other than this, much financial aid isn't available in this college, as Student's credit card isn't available in this college.

Campus Life

4.5

There is several festivals which are celebrated in this college like college freshers, annual sports day etc. a student here can access several books from the college library. College library is very next to the college building it is very accessible from here. Sports is a integral part in this college, several hockey tournaments, football tournaments and cricket tournaments were played throughout the year and students of every semester take part in it, and several social groups and clubs were also here like photography club, science club etc.

Admission

I took admission in this college was better than the other colleges I applied for and one of my elder siblings also studied here, I felt confident to take admission in this college, I also got rejected by a few colleges as my marks were not fulfilling to get admission there. Admission process is very easier here and the cut off of admission is around 60% in HS examination.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty in this colleges really good and best teachers Sumana Lama ma'am and and Udipto Roy Choudhary Sir, there are not many professors that I didn't like but for me the HOD of the commerce department is a person who can be depicted as a person who I don't like and the faculty to student ratio is a thing that can be changed as many classes here are off periods. And total of 8 exams are taken in the B.Com honours courses, questions are done by Calcutta University, so examination is not a very easy thing here.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.
