Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Law is a vast field and the growth it has seen in the recent times is something that drove me in order to choose the course. The curriculum also involves practical subjects like Moot Courts and Alternative Dispute Resoultion, that help in the real-world secenerios. But the methedology can be a bit more practical and not everything should be the bookish knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The law students are offered a one month break for internship and also have a regular day off after 12.45 in order to pursue part time internships. The first years are encouraged to have a NGO based internship that the Internship Committe offers, while there are multiple oppotuinities of internships under Advocates and Legal Firms, offered by the Department.

Placement Experience

3

The placement of the college stands at an average of 5-6 Lakhs per annum. With around 60% students getting successfully placed, the placement records are decent. The records can be better and the average package could be higher in corporate firms, but the quality of firms that arrive at the campus is worth it. Legal firms such as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Trilegal, King and Patridge are some of the noteworthy names. Many students also opt for Litigation, Judicial Examinations, and Higher Studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fees structure for the first three years is around 2.05 laks per annum, which increases to around 2.5 laks per annum. The residents of Karnataka have a 1.80 lakh per annum fees. The fees has also increased in the recent year, turning upto 2.25 lakhs per annum. This includes only the tuition feees and not the hostel fees.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) will always be termed as eventful. Eventhough there are no particular fests and concerts that take place, but educational fairs, booths, ethnic day, etc make up for the same. The campus life is fun and you always find something or another interesting happening around the campus. CHRIST provides a vast library that expands to about four floors, and also a UG library for two floors. There is almost a 80% availability of all the required books in the library.

Admission

The main goal for a law aspirant is always the CLAT examination, therefore even i aimed for the National Law Universities. But the failure to crack the examination, led me towards private colleges. My first choice for a private law college was the Symbiosis Law School, Pune, but the expensive tutition fees was what pulled me back. CHRIST Bangalore has the quality education, hollistic education approach, and an affordable fees, therefore it became my choice. The admission process of the college comprises of a Test and an Interview. Qualifying both will get you an admission to the college.

Faculty

3.5

The student to faculty ratio is around 50:1. Most of the teachers are approachble, therefore you can always ask them queries. The examination pattern sums of three CIA and one End Semester Exam per semester. The CIA 1 and CIA 3, are assignments based, while the CIA 2 is the mid semester examination.

The placements of Christ University Bangalore, are pretty decent. Students are eligible to get placements for the 9th semester, and there are a lot of companies that come for campus placements like Shardul Amrchnad Mangaldas and Cyril Amrchand Mangaldas, Khaitan, Puviyah and co., Trilegal and etc. The highest placement that went last year was 23 lakh, and the average placement is 6-7 lakhs. My plan is to do litigation after getting a degree.

It's the law firms like Wadia Gandhy, Dsk Legal, Trilegal and others. Some merchant bankers too are now a part of our placements thing and this is where it is getting interested as we are getting to explore new opportunities. Pay as of now is around 4-5 LPA but I hope it increases to atleast 10 by 2030.

Placements are okay not so good because of the field as Law doesn't have much placements because it is only given in corporate sector and other things people only have to get employment like for Self employment.

The university has a placement cell which is helpful. They help us get internships in which place we want (only if we are eligible). The placements are nice which are reported by the seniors. We got to know that most of the seniors had a starting package of 7L per annum.

Mostly it's the law firms like Indus Law, Globus, PICT and others. The payment scale therefore is less when it is compared with NLSIU or other NLUs. Some private companies like the UB Group and ITC amoung other others are also coming to hire students who have chosen corporate law as their main electives.
