Likes

I liked the lush green campus .It has world class sports facility.
People here are quite friendly and social.They even help doing and learning things sometimes.
My course geology has enormous opportunities abroad and even in India and the placement scenario is quite pleasing.So yeah happy to choose IIT kgp.

Dislikes

Professors are very knowledgeable people but don't know how to teach so majority of things are learnt online here by the students.
Some people try to make regional groups (like South) and talk in that language only .they even hate other Indian people so yeah some toxic environment.
Hostel food is below average than what you expect.

Course Curriculum Overview

I saw enormous opportunities in geology.This course is not available in many colleges so many jobs are vacant in India .The curriculum is quite logical and helps us to make our way into real world jobs .We can even go for higher studies in this field .I think admitting teachers based on their teaching skills is very important no matter how much knowledgeable that person is.The tests are quite frequent so we have to be ready with the syllabus taught in the classes.

Class Size: 52Course Fees: INR 312000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Google , Accenture ,Microsoft ,etc many other companies come for placements .Internships are done in the 3rd year .A semester is dedicated for internships .Internship with upto 1Lakh per month is provided by the college .

Placement Experience

Internship opportunities starts here from 3rd year .People get exposure as to how working in real field looks like.Placements are quite good.Average salary is around 15 LPA.Median is about 17 LPA.Highest was 36 LPA . Around 40 percent were only placed.I plan to getting placed in one the top core company.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees per year is around 3.1Lakh .For general category,tution fee is around 1 lakh per semester.Caution fee is 4k.Admission fee is 20k .Registration fee is 10k.My friend from ST category has paid 35 k in total.

Campus Life

Our annual fest is spring fest .Kshitij is our technical fest.Kshitij is around 20th January .We have technology students Gymkhana for extra curricular activities .All sports except cricket and football are available here.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel rooms are quite spacious but not well maintained.It is quite old hostel .Mess food is below average .People who are veg are not given as much priority as non veg.Registration for halls are done online .

Admission

I applied in josaa.I got IIT bhu pharmaceutical engineering till round 4.I chose IIT kgp because of enormous opportunities here and vast alumni network.I wanted IIT Bombay but my rank was not so good .IIT kgp accepts admission through JEE advanced .Eligibility criteria for jee advanced is getting 75 percent in 12th boards and cutoff for jee mains .

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is around 1:12.Faculty are quite understanding and help as much as they can.I liked Sujoy Ghosh sir ,he teaches minerology .He makes slides which are quite interesting and engages us into connecting several facts into a concept.I didn't like ravikant vadlamani ,he is just trying to impose the points which doesn't make sense .We have mid sems and end sems and tests before each .Tests are quite easy but midsems are moderate.Course is quite relevant as it also helps in bringing us internship opportunities.

For placement and internship we have CCD ( Career development center ) and it ensure that students are getting all the opportunities for interview with top companies like Microsoft, google, Goldman Sache amazon and so on. students can apply for internship in 5th semester and can sit for placement in their 8th semester, other than campus placement students can apply anywhere for off campus placement if they are meeting thier crieteria.

I choose my course that chemistry because of the fact that I had got the rank that came under it and another reason is chemistry department is quite old here even if kanpur chemistry department is better for core, you will get chance for non core too here. Courses now deal more on chemistry related stuff. No need for course improvement Frequency is near end and mid sem there will be exams mode

Life at IIT KGP

Placement Experience:

The placement is good in IIT KGP in comparison to other colleges. People are eligible to sit for placements in their fourth year can sit for placements through CDC. The placements are held in two phases. In session 24-25, we have seen 1000+ offers to students in first phase. After getting degree, I would also go for doing job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course for the first year is easy overall , maybe challenging for biology students because involvement of Maths in the curriculum but they can decrease their load by practicing Maths problems, asking doubts, approaching the instructors or their personal mentors. Otherwise the course is mixed in a good way with theoretical and practical part. Labs are conducted of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and CS in first year. You can choose CS as an minor in higher classes.

Placement Experience:

In the final year, a student is eligible for campus placements, 75% of the registered students are placed and the others have to go for off campus placements. also here if you are in a good branch, you will get good package otherwise, you will get w=very low package.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was preparing for the medical exam in 2014-2016, i appeared in 2016 AIPMT exam 2016, but did not get better college and so i heard about IISER exam that we can we go for higher study from here. i was interested that i can go to the medical research after completing my degree from IISER. yes we can go to ICMR and research field in any department if you have qualified from IISER with your dedication. you can go foreign for higher study like Phd. There shoud be more laboratry so that it easy for individual practices. The exam taken in IISER is semester wise with fraction like mid sem and end sem. with the perfect schedule. The exam of IISER is good level in each deparments.

Other colleges I applied for is IIT Delhi because it is nearer to my home and is well reputed college and have a great field in Tech.I opt this college because I am interested in Tech field. I finally chose IIT KGP beacuse it is providing me better branch than IIT Delhi and I got interested in this college beacuse my teacher in myh senior schoo is also from IIT KGP they taught me a lot of stories of there college time and I talked to some seniors of college for admissionb regarding prespective so they advised for IIT KGP.Therefore I chose IIT KGP over IIT Delhi.
