Course Curriculum Overview
Course and curriculum is good with necessary concepts involved. But at times the amount of assignments given collided with exam preparations. But then faculty is good just explain them your problems and you are good to go.
Internships Opportunities
Faculty will suggest you to get internships out of the college. But those who couldn't manage may ask your teachers and they'll provide you with their connections and help you gain experience in the field. Some of my friends opted for out house internships in various companies like pinnacle, ISRO, and other govt and reputated non govt organisations. It all depends on you, how you want to utilise those 2 months.
Placement Experience
Generally IT branches get more placements that core branches. But in my time we had more core companies visiting our college than any IT company. Companies like TCS, cognizant, pinnacle, wood, DCPL and manyyy more visits HITK. Placement drive is very good compared to any other Private Engineering college in WB with packages ranging between 3,00,000 rs per annum to 8,00,000 rs per annum for my branch. Average package is nearly 4,00,000 per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
At the time of admission overall fee was near 75,000 to 80,000 rs. including admission fees and other miscellaneous fee. Average fee per semester lies between 40,000 to 50,000 rs. 1200 during semester exam form fill up with no other hidden charges. Students may opt for State/ central scholarships. Many of my friends opted for 'Swami Vivekananda' scholarship. Hostel fee ranges between 39,000 to 45,000 rs for 6 months. Food and maintenance fee is nearly 2,500 rs.
Campus Life
Clubs are very active in HITK. You should really not miss out on this if you ever think of getting admitted to HITK! Youll get much exposure in as well as out of the college which definitely will add to your resume trust me! Be it sports or culture activities HITK never fails to amaze people. Youll get many in house as well as out house events in both sports and cultural stuffs. Every class will get a projector which makes the learning even more exciting. Youll get a centralized aur conditioned library and lots and lots of books to choose from. I remember whenever it was too hot we just went to relax there with a book in our hand in silence.
Hostel Facilities
Only thing I think the college should work on is the hostel. Its very old and unclean. There is no availability of boys hostel in campus. We got induction, fridge, bed, mattress, personal cubboard, free wifi and chair table. The process of getting hostel is a bit confusing as there is no official way to apply for it. You need to talk to a Sir for it and chances are people from outside will get preferance over people staying nearby. Rooms vary from single to tripple occupancy with rent and size accordingly. Few rooms have attached bathrooms but as I said its a bit confusing you need to talk to 'Sir' to get the best out of everything available. Breakfast, Lunch, evening tea and dinner is provided fir nearly 2,500 rs per month including maintenance charge. Attendance time is 7pm at winter and 8pm at summer.
Admission
I had three colleges in my list to get admitted to. First one was obviously Jadavpur but the cut off was high. I was confused between IEM and Heritage but right now as a pass out student Im proud to call myself a student of Heritage. It has got all other facilities including good faculty and placements along with one of the best campus and exposure in West Bengal.
Faculty
We had nearly 150 students with 2 sections. On an average each class had 1:40 teacher students ratio with few absentees. Faculty was very friendly and easy approaching. We had 2 end sem exams with 2 internals and lots of assignments. Course comprised of exams, assignments, projects, labs, presentations, vivas. Difficulty level was moderate. Just follow what your teacher says.
