Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course covers all historical as well as contemporary issues and discuss it in detail. So, we can know what is happening around us and also to mold an opinion of that. It is also comprehensive by including many wide variety of topics.

Internships Opportunities

3

We have to do compulsory internships but the college won't provide many internship opportunities as such. We have to find it on our own. But they have a center for publications cell and they provide some internship facilities.

Fees and Financial Aid

When I joined the college, the fee was 66000 but by that time, it had increased. The college provided many scholarship details but I haven't applied for any. Here, the costs vary by course. Many of the courses are more costlier than mine.

Campus Life

2.5

Our department has various clubs including the Book Club, Heritage Club, Gender Sensitization Club, etc. This makes the student's life more comprehensive and engaging. Infrastructure is also good and enough cleanliness is also there.

Admission

I chose this college by seeing its academic quality and syllabus. I even looked for many other colleges but I found this syllabus more contemporary and comprehensive. They even make us to do a dissertation in the last year which none of the other colleges don't.

Faculty

3.5

My course is a Triple major- BA in English, Political Science, and History. Our parent department is Political Science and History but is also aligned with the English Department. Faculties from both the departments. They are so good and helpful. Even if we have any doubts, we are free to ask them.

Placement Experience:

After the 2nd year, you are offered the option to register for placements. Various companies like Goldman Sachs, EY and NGOs like TeachForIndia visit the college yearly for placements. I am not very aware of the placement scenario in the college as I am planning on pursuing my masters immediately after college and hence, am not looking to get placed. The placement cell in the college is very functional however, and give time-to-time updates about placements and internship opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It was the only college in Mangalore that gave Criminology as an option with Psychology so that was my main reason for choosing it. The curriculum is pretty intensive in terms of assignments and projects. In theory, the course is alright but practical wise, there was limited exposure. There should have been more time allotted to learning research methods and stats intensively. There are internals conducted every semester after two months of commencement and finals at the end of the semester. The difficulty level lies in that you should be able to answer long answers in shorter time.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is very good and many top companies come to the interview. Many students get job offers with a very good package. Compared to other colleges the percentage of placement is more in this college. The college also offers post-graduation studies if you don't want to perceive higher studies.

Remarks:

The only positive thing about this South East Asian College of Arts, Commerce and Science is that you will not feel like a stranger here. Everyone is very supportive and they won't let you feel nervous also. The negative thing is they don't allow you to go and have food during lunch hrs and moreover they take 2 hrs of Tuition Classes which I personally think is a totally waste of time. The Principal here is also rude.
