Remarks

College is good but the 85% attendance criteria are difficult for the students to maintain.

Entrance Preview

I really like Bangalore atmosphere and I chose Christ because of its cultural values. How people from different backgrounds come together as one. I really like the discipline followed. Journalism here is taught not from books but real life instances.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course I'm pursuing Journalism honors has subjects ranging from Economics to Broadcast Journalism. There is a focus on overall knowledge and not only of the subject. The subjects aren't taught using books but Videos, presentations, Group discussions and lecture method.

Internships Opportunities

Christ University doesn't provide any internship but it collaborates with a few known NGOs and helps build contact for Students.

Placement Experience

4

Since journalism has just started so I don't really have any idea about Placements but for other courses, Christ has always been in the top 10. A lot of students have made it abroad only by being an Undergraduate student. Christ University lays focus on overall development of students.

College Events

5

Christ University has a fest every month. Students are free to participate in any event and showcase their talent. Activities range from Dance, Theatre, Music and Literature events. Days like Ethnic day are celebrated with much joy and happiness because it's about bringing your culture to light.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for the school of social sciences is quite less as compared to other colleges. For the school of business studies that is Bachelor of Business Studies, it's again normal as other colleges. For social science, it comes under 1 lakh and for BBA it is above 1 Lakh

Campus Life

3

The college is a mix of students from all over India. North bonds with South and the East with West. Everybody gets to see their culture being showcased on different platforms be it a movie or a competition. The Gender ratio is quite equal. There are million extracurricular opportunities available for students. Sports gave importance too. Competitions are held every week. Every month the college has a fest.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a great alumni network available in Christ University. Journalism honors is a new course so it may take time but alumni for other courses are helpful.

Exam Structure

The exam structure isn't stressful. It's divided into 4 components. The first is CIA 1. Cia means Continuous Internal Assessment. Which is based on research and project. Students are given freedom to present whatever they want to and then a mid-semester exam is taken then a CIA 2 is given and an end semester exam is taken.

Admission

I had prepared for an entrance exam which contained studying English, Logical reasoning, critical reasoning, General knowledge,Static gk and current affairs related to Journalism. I had to then give a skill assessment test which was to write 2 articles of 50 and 100 words each on the topic provided. I had to then give an interview.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is highly educated and the teachers are experienced not only in their field but as a whole. They are ahead of the time. Having current knowledge of everything. The teachers in the media department are heartwarming and really sweet and understanding.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of the dual degree that it has to offer, christ is one of the very few institutions that offer dual degree and allow you to explore both the subjects or gain combined knowledge of both the subjects. The curriculum is very up to date with subjects that relate to real world problems. What i like the most about my curriculum is the Learner centric approach where they divide the class into halves so that the teacher student ratio can be maintained in order to achieve full efficiency. One area of improvement can be inculcating more soft skills traininng into it.

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
