Course Curriculum Overview

4

Being a triple major gives me quite a few options to work on in my furure which is a reason I chose this course. Doing a degree in history makes me aware of my rich heritage and culture, political science makes me aware of my rights and duties for my nation and economics makes me aware of my finances. I feel our professors do good a really good job but if I had to say on thing it would be doing more practical study than the theory part. We have 2 semesters each year and each semester we have an internal exam and an en semester with assignments as well. And the difficulty level is not that bad it prepares you for the next level.

Internships Opportunities

4

We have a placement cell which provides us with varied opportunities of internships for every course. Companies like GoldmanSachs, DeShaw, Deloitte and many more. They also offer stipends ranging from 10,000 to 60,000 for the entire working period. Like roles like human resources, volunteering purposes, then also for psychology related works.

Placement Experience

4

The students are eligible to sit for placement in their final years. The companies which comes for the placement are deloitte, goldmanSachs, amazon and many more reputed companies. And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid

For my first year I paid ?60600. The tution fee was 24142+1886 (mount carmel college and mount carmel educational society), the registration fees was 600, admission was 200, development fee was 1000, lab fee was 522 and there are other fees regarding few socities and also for the Library and the college magazine. I also have an extra language which is German so for that I paid 4500 so in total 60600. Currently for my 2nd year I paid an amount of 53300. The tution fee was 28164+1886 this year the caution fee was 2000 and the rest like development, lab, and other charges were the same as first year. My batchmates also pay somewhat a similar amount though I will not be able to give a detailed structure for that. There are many scholarships available few of them would be the central sector scholarship for college and university students which awards 12000 per annum ,then post graduate scholarship for single child rewarding 36,200 per annum and there are also many government related scholarships like the minority scholarships then the Sanchi Honnamma scholarships and many more. After admission there are also many scholarships for the students.

Campus Life

4

Mcc has few of the most happening fests. Be it cultural fests or educational ones. Our in college fests are MANAN, the Cul-week and many more. They are more likely to be held around the months of august annd September. Our library is very well equipped with the best books and refrences and we also have a great knowledge pro which provides us with important information. The library also has many journals. The classrooms are great with smart boards which helps us understanding in a better way. We also have a basketball team which gives us the best results. We also have many associations which helps students in a better college experience and also improves their communication skills. We have the NSS which is a national regarded association. And many more globally recognised clubs which helps in giving a better picture.

Admission

I did apply to BHU and Delhi university and also Christ university. I did get accepted to Christ and the other i didn't make it. My reason for not going to Christ was only that I felt MCC would be a better choice for me in case of everything. The other colleges I didn't make were because of my CUET results and also few of them I did not even check as the results came out too late. The admission eligibility is just getting a 60% in your 12th and then an interview will be set up and if one gets selected they will recieve an email regarding so and then they need to pay the given fees. Rest of the admission process is smooth.

Faculty

I personally really like my professors they are very friendly and also approachable. They even teach us with day to day examples which makes it easy for us to understand the particular thing. Few of them may seem to be strict but that is just for the teaching part other than that they are very chill. According to me my professors have a very good relation with each and every one of us. They encourage us to acheive things in life not just academically but in different parts of life. They pay attention to each and every one of us and they don't discriminate anyone. I won't mention any particular names as that would be too personal for them but I like all my professors from my department of history, economics and political science and even our german and english professors. I won't say that every other professor is good, there are few who have a very monotonous way of teaching but that is a personal opinion as every professor has a different method of teaching and it is very possible that it may not be applied to every student. As my course is 3 year degree we have 2 semesters each year summing to a total of 6 semesters. Every semester we have an internal exam of 30 marks and end semester exams of 80 other than this we also get assignments which carries marks in all its a 100 mark paper. The exam I won't say is very difficult but yes if one doesn't pay attention in the class or doesn't study for them it would be difficult. There are few students who fail these exams. The curriculum is quite relevant and works in the favour of the student who wants to persue that particular subject.

Interview Experience

4

I had an interview. It was a one on one interview. They asked me few questions regarding my concerned course and that was it. I just prepared few of the general quetions and rest I winged it. After the interview its just the admission process which is quite smooth

Night Life

4

As I have not opted for the hostel I won't be able to give any information regarding that. But I fo live in a pg close to college and the area is quite nice its a residential place so any kind of problems also don't take place. We have a park many small cafes and a gym and anything important. The hostel timings that I have heard is 6:00, it is the curfew time. Most of us after our classes go back and chill in our pgs, take some time alone to get refreshed and later do our work. People can also go for a night walk which shows that how safe of a place it is. However the pgs do have a curfew as well so that's why after a certain time the locality gets empty.

Performing Arts have more of practical things as from acting to direction we are taught everything. History and Theory as some theory part and the kind of career path that our course provides, I think for students interested in this, should join our course at Christ University.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of the dual degree that it has to offer, christ is one of the very few institutions that offer dual degree and allow you to explore both the subjects or gain combined knowledge of both the subjects. The curriculum is very up to date with subjects that relate to real world problems. What i like the most about my curriculum is the Learner centric approach where they divide the class into halves so that the teacher student ratio can be maintained in order to achieve full efficiency. One area of improvement can be inculcating more soft skills traininng into it.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements towards the final semester of their course. Currently, I have only been using the help of my faculty for internship opportunities, since I am not looking for placements. But they have connections with big names in the communication sector, and they often have personalities coming in to give talks and interact with the students. A great number of students opt for placements and approximately 90% of them do end up getting posted at really good companies. Others choose to continue with higher education. My plan after receiving my degree would be to take up a diploma in literature in the UK, while simultaneously finding myself a position at a good publishing house there.

Placement Experience:

From my seniors, I hear that 20/30 % of students from our college get placed. But now being in my final sem I know the reality. For covid and lockdown, the placement sector has been badly hit. Only a handful of companies came this year (5/6 companies). 4/5 people from our batch are placed but no placement for the big chunk of people. From 5th sem students become eligible for placements but in 5th sem, no company came to our college for placement this year. Only in the 6th sem, the placement cell started. Companies that visited till now ( some of them came to take interns and didn't offer full-time jobs) 1) Clevertize, 2) Social Panga, 3) Robert Bosch GmbH, 4) Saatchi & Saatchi, 5) Publicis, 6)PR Pundit, 7) McKinsey, 8) Edsol Edtech, 9) Momo Media, 10) MSL, 11) Genesis BC, Offers: 1.5-3 LPA (average). I plan to send CVs personally to companies through LINKEDIN and other job search platforms because the college hasn't provided us with good placement offers as claimed.
