Course Curriculum Overview

I was prior interested in Automobiles, Aeroplanes and Locomotives, which inspired me to choose this course. Though it was difficult at times to understand few concepts but overall it gained me much knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

1. I got an opportunity to do Vocational training at SAIL Durgapur Steel Plant, which was given by our department, during summer break after 3rd year. 2. I got an offcampus opportunity for Project intern at Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Ltd, during summer break after 3rd year, continue after the previous one. 3. I got an oncampus opportunity for Neev Internship at Flipkart, during the 8th semester. 4. I got another oncampus international pportunity at Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel, based out of Oman, as a full time employee there.

Placement Experience

NIT Durgapur holds a strong record of campus placements and will continue to do. Average package last year was around 8.5 LPA. Many PSU, Big 4 and IT companies take part in the recruitment process and students are fairly selected.

Fees and Financial Aid

For SC/ST/OBC, fees were 17500/semester for tuition, 18000/semester for Hostel (inc. Room, Mess, Services, etc.) For General, fees vary from 74000/semester to 17500/semester based on Parents' income category for tution, 18000/semester for Hostel (inc. Room, Mess, Services, etc.)

Campus Life

Overall campus life for me was exciting, encouraging and helped me to socialize with different people from all parts of India. Seniors were like guardians and juniors were more like friends and always stood for support.

Hostel Facilities

1st year hostel (Hall 14) is well furnished and in good condition as it was built recently, but the mess is handled by a private vendor, due to which food quality may not be as expected for some. Whereas later during pre-final and final years, we get Hall-2 and Hall-1, which were built in 1960s and not much upgrades on them were done since then except the electricals. But the mess in those older halls are way better than those handled by private vendors.

Hostel Fee: INR 108000 per year

Admission

I got admitted in NIT Durgapur, Mechanical Engineering department via JEE Mains. I was selected in CSAB counselling and home state quota was applicable for me as I completed my Secondary and Higher Secondary from West Bengal itself.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty to Student ratio varies between 1:8-1:20. For Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering departments it was the highest as number of students were greater than 160. Though all the faculty members and professors are highly qualified and knowledgeable, and guide well throughout the path of college life.

IIT KGP is amazing!!

Placement Experience:

Students are prepared for placements right from the third semester. Indusrrial training is provided to us and engineering industries like L&T, Bhel, IRS and HAL among others which are in full swing are among the colleges that hires IIT KGP students with an average package of no less than 15-18 lakhs yearly.

IIT Kharagpur : A very well executed institution which helps the students grow and excel in life

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well developed and the major areas of learning are adequately addressed. It has prepared students for practice as well as for further education. I wanted to point at such aspects of teaching design that need to be developed : offerings of practical projects and a greater focus on interactive teaching methods. Exams are scheduledd but may prove to need extra assistane for comprehension of some of the contents.

The students get eligible at 3rd year 6th sem. Though before that you can do internship or freelancing which will increase the weight of your profile. The percentage of student getting placement is around 60-70% and the average package is around 4-5lakhs per annum. The highest package got by a student previous year was around ?10lakhs per annum.

The course curriculum is not that different from other colleges. At the beginning or 1 st semester we are made to complete the bridge course which basically includes stuff we read in classes 11 and 12. But then also they can't teach properly the already read topics.

Review of honesty

I had apply for National Institute of Technology, jamsedpur but i had choosen this college over it because of it's nirf ranking which was good from that college and i had researched that core electrical was good from that college. I want to go for nit jaipur but my jee mains rank was 20k and nit jaipur electrical seat was closed around 18k so i didn't make it there. Jossa counselling was medium between me and my college admission they fixed my seat .eligibility criteria for electrical engineering branch was around 22k for other state and 27k for home state for open category. Review of Nit Durgapur

With the jee main score, I apply for josaa councelling. I which I got chemical engineering nit durgapur, it is very good college. I choose this college because of its infrastructure, west bengal culture, placement of chemical engineering which is very good. I also applied for nit jaipur and allahabad but for God sake I got nit durgapur which is also a top college. On the very first day, during admission process, we have to complete our documents with us, then I go to the office to check my documents by the invigilator. Then I went to the hall, which is allotted to me that is hall 11. Then go there, book my room which is on first floor. If I go late then I got room for top floors. NIT DURGAPUR - A COMPLETE OVERVIEW

Admission took place from jee mains exam and score above 95 percentile for general category with open category of non home state. If you have some reservation then you can get admission on low ranks only. I also opted for NIT Jamshedpur and NIT Raipur. I got NIT Raipur in 2nd round but got nit Durgapur in later rounds. Entrance exam-JEE MAINS Counseling procedure via JOSAA or CSAB. JEE Mains is conducted twice in a year with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects.Time duration for jee mains is 3 hours and test is conducted in CBT mode with MCQs and Numerical value type questions.The total marks for jee mains is 300.The application for Jee Mains 2024 can be found in their official website ( https://jeemain.nta.ac.in/ ) and the application fees is 1000 for each session (General Category).
