Likes

Nice, lush green campus, excellent atmosphere during rainy season which prevails for over 6 months a year.
Situated at a very good location from where you can explore various tourist and famous places present in souyh India.

Dislikes

Bicycles get rust very easily because it is situated in a coastal area.
Administration and management is very poor. Even small cases take months or sometimes years to be resolved.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is excellent for my branch. It is very well coordinated with all the basics that are needed to cover aspects of this branch and it also overlaps with syllabus of GATE exam in this branch.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities in this college depend a lot upon which branch you are taking admission in but sometimes even tech. Companies allow core students to sit for internship drive. It usually starts at the onset of 5th semester and you will be called for internship after end of 6th semester.

Placement Experience

As i mentioned above, placements are way above average. My dept. Average was around 10lpa but it is much higher for other branches. The placement percentage is easily above 80%. You just need to do the basic minimum and you will land yourself a job.

Fees and Financial Aid

As far as i can recall, we got notifications of around 5 plus scholarships in our entire tenure. Each semester's fees is around 1lakh including hostel and mess fees. Placement opportunities are pretty good too, considering it is the second best ranked NIT in India.

Campus Life

Infrastructure is way above many iits. Very nice hostel rooms with single occupancy starting 3rd year. The campus overall infrastructure is great too. Excellent sports complex and new dept. Buildings. NITK has over 10 student run clubs which people can join upon joining the institute.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility is above average but washrooms suck. We get shared accomodation till second year and after that single occupancy is provided. Hostel plus mess rent is around 32K per semester. Mess food quality is decent enough, just don't opt for Mega mess at any cost.

Hostel Fee: INR 65000 per year

Admission

My jee rank was 31k but with obc quota i got obc rank of 7.7k and with its help, made it to dept. Of mme in nitk, surathkal. Application process starts from jossa counselling after you clear jee mains exam within the required cutoff rank.

Faculty

3.5

Specifically in my department, we had altogether 15 course instructors which are more than enough considering the batch size and all the faculties know their subject very well. Most of them did their PhD. From foreign universities too.

Placement Experience:

Google, Amazon, Microsoft and basically all than FANG companies are our top recruitment members. Microsoft though tops the chart and their Bangalore wing has majority students from MIT Manipal. As we are taught to deliver for them and our students have delivered for them time and again.

Placement Experience:

from 6th sem the students will be eligible for campus placements Companies Infosys ,Tata ,Samsung, Mercedes ,Bosch, Many more etc. Highest package was given at 6.5 lakhs And the average package will come around 3 lakhs . It's like 50 : 50 ratio where you'll get 50% of them will qualify for the placements and 50% will not qualify replacements. I just want to do Masters after my degree.

Before there was no placement but now it's improved a lot there is a company named ethnotech that came to our clg to teach us skills they have bought good company for placement and many students placed with a good package like 4 lpa to 6 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very unique, and very new, we are not taught irrelevant subjects and topics like every university does, Polaris school of technology (PST) is a new gen college which mainly focuses on tech, producing the best engineers not amongst india but amongst the world, it's aim is to produce engineers who are better than IITians and MITians, all these specifications influenced me to choose this course/curriculum When it comes to real-world applications, Polaris school of technology(PST) gives us real-life problems and scenario based projects through evaluations which help us in the future and helps us to build a proper approach for problems and train us to be the best. We have two main exams per sem which would be conducted every 3 months that is ½th of the sem, we have a total of 8 sems, so total 16 exams, our exams would be difficult for other college students, but not for us as we have the best mentors.

A mini heaven on earth called NITK

After GATE exam, I applied to almost all top NITs like NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, NIT Warangal, NIT Calicut etc during CCMT counselling . I had also applied in IIT Dhanbad in COAP counselling. I got IIT Dhanbad in 8th round. I spoke to my coaching Sir, he had advised me to go for top 3 NITs rather than IIT Dhanbad. Since these three NITs are well established and offer better placement opportunities as compared to IIT Dhanbad which is relatively a new IIT. One needs to qualify GATE exam to get a shot at taking admission in IITs/NITs. Once you qualify the GATE exam you can then look at specific colleges cutoff for admission. I got NIT Surathkal in special round 1 which was held after 3 regular rounds. I preferred NIT Surathkal as compared to other NITs since its considered in top 3 NITs and also it's near my home as compared to NIT Trichy....Read More

LIFE AT NITK

I had applied for other IITs & NITs with different branches like IIT GUWAHATI and IIT BHU ,IIT ROORKEE,NIT TRICHY as i wasn't able to clear the cutoff according to their requirements i got NITK SURATHKAL which was the best that i got i choosed the other colleges because of their higher placement records more average salary packages and the most OG thing is that i wanted the IITian tag but i had also got a seat allocated in IIT BHU in metallurgy but i didnt wanted to take it and finally i chose NITK SURAATHKAL because it near to my hometown Banglore and the weather is very good there it has a privatre beach along with a light house many places to visit around NITK SURATHKAL mainly a very big campus of aroung 300 acres and multiple number of sports opportunities it has 2 gym .
