Course Curriculum Overview

B.Tech ECE was chosen by me because of my personal interests in this subject and Electronic devices, but as I have completed my 1st yr I have realised that this branch has lot more advantages such as it can help us get placed in other branches' companies too which shows it's versatility and our college has designed the curriculum in such a way that it teaches us ways to tackle real world problems in our field

Class Size: 75Course Fees: INR 705000 per year

Placement Experience

The placement of our college is pretty nice and is considered the best among all the private universities of the State of West Bengal. With an average package of 5 lakhs and highest package of 72 lakhs it is ranked among top universities of the Country.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college fee structure is 85k per semester which amounts to a total of 705k for full course of B.Tech which is a bit more expensive compared to other colleges and universities of our city, though the price we offer does not seem to be wasted and we are given it's worth in a decent way .

Campus Life

Our college is pretty good in Hosting cultural and educational events and activities such as INNOVACION, which is considered to be the biggest tech fest of our college, besides this ECE dept host a 10-day event called CYTRON which is again a tech fest, IEMPACT is also a big cultural fest hosted by IEM But the sporting facilities are not up to the mark, hardly one football tournament occurs in a year and no sign of other sports as such.

Admission

My admission happened through our colleges' entrance exam IEMJEE which happens in three phases and I appeared in in the 3rd phase in which as a result they gave us a rank card and this rank card helped us to choose our respective branches and take admission

Faculty

Highly educated teachers, well knowledgeable but it depends from person to person , but overall the teachers of ECE department are helpful and also have good practical knowledge which helps us understand the concepts very well in Labs.

Campus life: Hype vs Truth

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

Placement Experience:

Well as far as mh knowledge students get to placements from 6th semester itself . Well there are placement classes from 3rd semester itself . The placement track record of the college is quite good with most year about 90% gets placed with good companies comming like Deloitte, EY GDS , JP MORGAN, Oracle , offering high amount of placement offers like around 20+ lpa . Well I am not sure about my plans maybe if the palacement is good I'll take it or will be preparing for GATE (Whose courses are also provided from college .)

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placement in cse, it ,ece and sometimes elec branches. The others dpt also offers a quite unique variety of placements from different companies. Nearly 60 percent of the students have been placed in this year and others are still on board for a positive response.

A Deep Dive into JGEC

Placement Experience:

From 4th year the students become eligible for on campus placements. Few companies that visited are BEL which offered 12lpa , wtw which also offered 12lpa , TCS which offered 9 lpa highest, and many more . Highest package offered this year was 54lpa by Microsoft (off campus) . On campus highest was BEL which offered 12 lpa , the average package is around 8 lpa . My plan is to prepare myself for government exams and get a job by the end of my 4th year .

the cirricullum is quite relevent and comprehensive . BTECH program especially CSE includes specializations like data sciene , cybersecurity, IOT, etc . Exams are held twice in a semester . the college could include hand on learning through workshop , industry project and interships .

Well other than that I definitely put Techno Main , Heritage Institute of Technology, Jalpaiguri Government, kalyani Government and Haldia Institute of Technology too . But the rank didn't allow me to get my desired branch that is CSE in kalyani and jalpaiguri, so I had to close from the private ones and if you have to pick the best one in Kolkata which was also not far waya from my hometown , definitely you choose IEM , as it definately has a good placement track record and good curriculum. Well you can get into this college through WBJEE(which they didn't took this year ) , IEMJEE and direct admission too . But direct admission requires some extra donation amounts too . So prefer qualifying the exams ....Read More

So I take admission through WBJEE in IEM KOLKATA in B.tech in electrical engineering. So now I talked about eligibility criteria:- You should pass your +2 from any board with a maximum of 60% Admission in this college is 3 types WBJEE, JEE MAIN, IEMJEE all three forms you will get notified by college dunia if you have an account in it. So the IEM KOLKATA is one of the best private colleges in Kolkata and you can say in India also so the cuttoff goes very high you have to get minimum rank for this college.
