Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is very much relevant if you compare it with what's in demand in the current industry. The syllabus gets regularly revised. I personally believe putting more credits for lab courses would definitely help. The practical aspect of engineering is often overseen by giving just 1 credit for lab courses.
Internships Opportunities
From the college itself, professors won't spoon feed you to get the internship but yes, if you have been good in the academics or in the eyes of them then there are cases where they do refer you to good IITs. NIT Srinagar has MoU signed with IIT Delhi and IIT Hyderabad. In cas your CGPA is 8 above after 6th semester. Then you can apply to study your 4th year in these institute as well.
Placement Experience
There is a mandatory internship that you have to do in 3rd year. On this basis students starts to get internships from 3rd semester. During 5th semester itself, almost all the CS IT students get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fixed service charge for all : 15000 per semester. Hostel Fee ( excluding mess ) : 8000 per semester. Mess fee : 14000 - 17000 per semester Tuition fee : 1. Above 5 LPA Income : 68000 2. 1-5 LPA income : 23000 3. Below 1 LPA : 0
Campus Life
There are 2 major annual fest 1. Techvaganza : Technical fest . Around June 2. Rang-e-chinaar : cultural fest. Late November or early December. There is a centralised Gymkhana under which all the clubs operate.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities : 1. Cupboard 2. Study Table 3. Good internet 4. Spacious room Cons : Too many mates on a single room. All the students outside Kashmir region gets Hostel by default. For Kashmiris, it is tough to get hostels due to shortage of rooms.
Admission
Admission is done on the basis of JEE Mains marks. Counselling is done through JoSAA. Once you get the seat from JoSAA you have to go to NIT Srinagar's official website : nitsri.ac.in . There they upload registration form. Fill that up and physically report the institute with proper documentation.
Faculty
Each class of 90 students is further divided into 2 ie A and B. So faculty to student ratio would be 45:1. I am from ITE dept, since it is comparatively newer branch so teaching experience of the teachers is bit less. But the professors are well qualified.
