Some information about MSW in Dibrugarh University

I chose this course because i wanted to come in cont with the community people and work with them to tackle their problems and to know their problems and what they go through and their vulnerabilities. The course provides real life experiences through field works in every 3 semester along with internship. We also have rural camps where we stay in a community and know more about them or what are their main problems and about their livelihood and many more

In our 3rd semester we all are asked to do our internship outside northeast and most of our from our batch went to delhi. Others went to Jharkhand, Bihar, Kolkata. We have three specialisation community development, medical and psychiatric social work and Human Resource management. Medical people went to different hospitals and HRM people went to corporate sector like ongc , quest retail pvt ltd .

Students of 4 th semester are eligible for campus placement Satin creditcare network ltd and SESTA Average package is 35k and this year 7 students were selected through campus placement My plans after this degree is to search for good opportunities where i can develop myself and also the organisation will benefit from me and also thinking for higher studies and getting a doctorate degree

The course fees increase a little or don't increase every year. This course is a little expensive because we have many workshops and other training programs given by many renowned resource persons on important topics The course needs approx 2 lakhs from admission to other fees. We get various scholarships from Nsp which are available to students if they fulfill certain criteria. Campus placement are also available and this year 7 students were selected from our course in campus placement.

There is varsity week held in our university in the month of February but due to covid the timing was misplaced but now slowly it has been working to bring it on time. Various sports facilities are available like 2 playgrounds, volleyball court, basketball court, indoor game facilities along with gym. Students belonging to different caste have their own student organization

The hostel rooms are provided with bed , table, chair , almirah , fan and wifi facility Morning it provides roti sabji and on saturday and Sunday they provide puri and fried rice and it has items like fish paneer meat and other curry The hostels are affordable in comparison to private pgs

Eligibility criteria for the course is the candidate must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university with minimum 50%. The application form is available in the university website with all required information regarding fees, examination date and process of examination. There are 2 levels first written test takes place , whoever are selected in the written test they need to come for GD and PI on the next day and after that in a week or two the final result is declared and in the notification the time for admission, date and feed is being mentioned. There are also reservations available for obc, st, sc and ews category.

In our department there are total five faculty member and 1 guest faculty and i must say all the faculty members are really very helpful and they are ready to help us whenever and wherever needed. They are always present to listen to our problems and help us in every way possible. They are free enough with us and make us feel comfortable if we want to share any personal problem that has been affecting us or our studies. If I talk about teaching they take regural classes and make us everything understand in a very simple way and also provide us with all the necessary materials and also gives us task like presentation to know our learnings. We can interact with them whenever we feel the need and they also keep extra periods once a week where we can interact with them but they are always available for interaction.

Yes there are both GD and PI rounds where we were given topics like ban of plastic , live in relationships, public hospitals over private hospital and many other related to present social issues. In PI round we were asked about our personal details our qualifications, why we are interested in these course and how we come to know about this course. I have prepared myself with current social issues .
