Overall experience in NERIM

The course of Social Work degree shapes the students professionally and personally by providing them with the knowledge, skills set and ethical foundation that is needed in the course of social work. It gives you insight about both sociological and pyschological needs, helps you build ethical values and encourage in strengthening in course areas, It also offers various specialized areas such as, Clincial and psychiarty social work, Community Development, Human Resources, Child and Family Services. It also shapes an Individual encouraging them personal growth and development. Completing this course shapes the Individual students advocating for change and social justice.

The college engages the students with various fieldwork programs which helps the students engage with the outer world with the organisations and build connections. It also conducts and takes projects and dissertations for each courses.

The college offers placement to the students, but it varys to students to students. It definitely doesnt provide placements to all. I feel the placement packages should be a little higher, and also engage the students with their extra skill set learning programs which will boost the overall placement process.

The tuition fees for MSW was 35000 for each semester, The college takes seperate exam fee as the college is affiliated with Dibrugarh University, the tuition fees is increasing as of now it is 40000 per semester. The college offers a few range of scholarships as well.

The college conducts annual programs, sports events and a NEERMAN event where there are various competitions and games where the students can participate, which offers the students to grow personally, socially and culturally.

The college offers Human Resource electives which I am eager to learn about, also it engages the students more with fieldwork and focuces more on practical learning and development. It also takes students of rural camp setting, study tour, etc.

The faculty members are helpful and they will encourage you to engage more with the fieldwork organisations, There are semester exams as well as we need to submit weekly fieldwork reports, update our field coordinator with fieldwork attendance, summary reports. Overall the course empahises more on the practical learning

The college has its own library, and cafes, the hostel is quite away from the college campus, there are both girls and boys hostel providing decent faciities to the students and offering a wide variety of mess meals.
