Course Curriculum Overview

I chose my MSW in counselling because I did my bachelor's in psychology and wanted to continue my studies in the field of mental health. There are 8 departments, and every department has specialised professors who have expertise in their subject. The faculty are highly qualified and they have practical knowledge too.

TISS-G has a placement cell that is run by students with support of the faculties. Students are eligible to sit for placement after they have registered for placements, from 4th (last) semester. Organisations start visiting the campus to recruit the graduating batch. The leading NGOs, foundations, PSUs and corporates have been the past recruiters of TISS. Almost 90% students get placed and who don't get placed campus drive her jobs easily when they apply offline. Highest package goes around 13lpa and average package is 6lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

TISS is known for its ROI. That means the fee charged is pretty reasonable for general unreserved candidates. There are various govt schemes to relax the fees on SC/ST/OBC. For taking accommodation in hostel, one needs to fill a form after admission is confirmed

Admission

For getting admission to TISS, one is supposed clear a written Test TISSNET. Every year TISS rolls out the application forms around November - December. Candidate can only fill 3 courses. Once the written test is cleared, candidate has to clear 2 more rounds - extempore and personal interview. There is a score released combining all 3 scores of candidate and if it matches or exceeds the cutoff candidate has got the admission. They are given time for few weeks to fill fees and confirm admission. From 2024 admissions will be taking place by CUET, so one can expect few changes

Interview Experience

3.5

Yes once the candidate has cleared the written test they have to appear for extempore - in which a topic will be given to them and they have to speak for 2 mins on that topic. The candidate is given 30 secs to prepare and it is followed by personal interview. Questions on personal interview are mainly navigate by what details candidate has filled in their daf.

Placement Experience:

The college offers placement to the students, but it varys to students to students. It definitely doesnt provide placements to all. I feel the placement packages should be a little higher, and also engage the students with their extra skill set learning programs which will boost the overall placement process.

Social work is a course with many scopes. My decision in choosing this course was to change the society I lived in. If more workshops were organized to the students then it would be great. Fieldwork systems should be improve and look more into their reports.
