Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course if MBBS is very large as it has 19 subjects. The course is 5.5 yrs long in which the final year is internship. Due to its large syllabus the tests and exams occurs frequently. In this course the first year is pre clinical second and third year is para clinical and the fourth year is of clinical subjects. The teaching method consists of both thoery and practical. From 2nd year onwards we get to have the clinical exposure as we have our clinical postings in various departments in the hospital.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure of IGMC College fees - 60,000 per annum Hostel fess - 24,000 per annum (excluding mess charges), (you get your own room in the boys hostel). During the internship you get a stipend of around 20,000 per month. There are aslo various scholarships provided by the HP govt.

Campus Life

4

The campus is kind of open so the experience is a little different, it all depends on how you tend to enjoy it. In our college throughout the year various social activities occurs, the largest of them being the college annual fest going by the name of stimulus, its is a quite popular fest in the state of himachal Pradesh. The college is seemingly old but it has all the required infrastructure. The college library also has a lot of facilities from study area to a range of journals and publications. One thing in which the college lacks is sport. Though there is a badminton court in the middle of college building, outside of that there in not much due to the lack of open spaces in shimla.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel facilities are quite good in this college. The boys and girls hostel are on seperate locations. In boys hostel you get your own private room from the first year onwards, you can keep your own vehicle if you want, parking space is available in the hostel area. In the girls hostel 2 students have to share a room, they get their own private room in the final year only. The hostel fee is 24000 per year (excluding mess charges). The hostel life is quite interactive you get to interact with your seniors as well as you juniors. There are also various sports activities conducted in the hostel area every year.

Admission

The admission was like any other medical College, you have to appear in NEET. Cutoff of IGMC Shimla For HP bonafide students - 610 (unreserved) For students from other states - 660 (unreserved) After getting the college in the counselling you will get a call letter. The day of admission is very hectic as you have to do various medical tests and vet them signed by various departments. You will have to roam around the hospital amidst a large crowd of patients, just to get the sign. It will help if on the day of admission all the required sign can be done in one place.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty to student ratio is quite good in this college. There are more than enough faculty members at each hierarchy level, from the Professors to the postgraduate students level of the respective department. In a medical college a professor is also a Doctor so each of the faculty member is definitely well versed in their speciality. Also faculty members are very interactive depsite having a busy schedule

MBBS is some course I don't think I've to define, it's low-key a noble profession and worth the hardwork you'll be doing throughout past few years of NEET-ug preparation and 4.5 years of MBBS. And superiority complex among yo relatives, hahaha????

Its MBBS dude . Respected profession and lots of money. The curriculum is good very much emphasis on theoratical knowledge along with good amount of clinical hours for skill development. Improvements would be to lower the load on final prof. As too many subjects. Frequency of exams is 1 formative weekly and 3 terms at 3 months gap . One final examination yearly. They vary in difficulty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

One may choose the course of MBBS for various reasons, my being having a successful professional life which interests me. The perks of being a doctor are many , the primary being the ability to help the society at many levels with a good income and social status. Through MBBS one definitely learns a lot which prepares an individual for the harsh World we live in. Each viva, each scolding, each taunt and each exam surely feel bad at the moment but if the person is willing to rebuild on them they surely develop ones character. Coming to the academic part MBBS includes19 subjects. One can pursue any of the subjects in the future which requires you to qualify neet pg which would soon be replaced by NEXT exam. A thorough knowledge of the subjects is required to qualify the exam. It's known well that medical field is constantly evolved at a very rapid rate. However i personally feel that this college has lagged behind in catching up to it. Currently there is a need for better infrastructure.

Mbbs in itself is vast curriculum but it's interesting at the same time. We get to learn more about our body in first year through anatomy physiology and biochemistry. From second year onwards the preclinical subjects are more interesting one also the clinical postings make the cause much fun u got to see many patients and apply the bookish knowledge on the patients. Exams in mbbs are held from time to time which keep us going through the course very easily.

Course Curriculum Overview:

my cousins did their mbbs from this college and further my father's friends also refered this college. As i am doing mbbs therefore our college give us different scenario during our AETCOM ( attitude ethics and communication ) in which they ask us to perform a drama on the scenario and if we make any mistake during the performance they correct us and tell us what could have been the corect way. Our textbook also have different case studies on basic ethics. Our college conducts test every saturday for all the subjects that we have to appear in that year. Our college conducts 1st term , 2nd term and sent up examination. According to new NMC curriculum we are required to atleast score 50% in internal assessment. Then there are final examination after every year on the basis of which we are promoted to the next year.
