Remarks

I think college management is good but at the same time, they look for money making options.

Entrance Preview

My rank was 6565 and I could put for colleges like NMIT, BNMIT, RNSIT etc. All those were of the same level in terms of placement and teaching. I wanted mechanical engineering branch and many people suggested NMIT is best for mechanical. This was the first reason. And I had to stay at my uncle's place which was nearby NMIT. These were the reasons to choose them.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is very updated along with the continuously changing requirements of the industry. Since it is an autonomous institution, professors along with professionals sit together, discuss and form a curriculum which caters all needs of students as well as industry.

Internships Opportunities

College provides internship for selected students and they don't pay any stipend. Only some toppers who are recognized get a special internship.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements and job opportunities are good. They are not very great or very bad. Cs and Is branches easily get jobs and few mechanical and civil companies also come to college. Even EEE and EnC branches get more core companies than Mech and civil. But there's a good chance of getting into the IT sector.

College Events

4.5

There are many events celebrated in our college. Mainly college fest Anaadyanta, interbranch fest Inception and branch fests, ethnic day and many festivals are celebrated. Anaadyanta is known as one of the best fests in Bangalore which goes on for 3 days.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is bitten at the expensive side. Except for KCET mandatory fee, there is also a college fee of greater than 30000. If you have to stay in the hostel, there is also hostel fee and mess fee. There is also transportation fee for those who want transportation facility. The parking fee is expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know about the scholarship from college since I am not eligible for any of them due to general category.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is good and cheerful. The gender ratio is almost equal. There are so many extracurricular activities. The academic and extracurricular activities are balanced well. Labs, robotics, are very good. There is also a student satellite program with ISRO.

Hostel Facilities

3

I don't live in the hostel. But I know hostility who keep on complaining about the facilities. The hostel is clean but a bit small. The food is bad according to most of the hostelites. Hygiene and taste both are absent in mess food and people just hate it. There is Wi-Fi available in the hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

I don't know much about the alumni network. Once I become alumni, I may get to know. But I feel they are organized.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is sturdy and good. There are 3 internals out of which best 2 are averaged. That is for 30 marks. There are 2 assignment tests and surprise tests which are also averaged and add up to 20 marks. Out of this 50, a minimum of 20 marks should be earned to be eligible for semester end examination(SEE). SEE is for 100 marks, reduced to 50 and added with internal marks and grades are awarded.

Admission

I got a rank of 6565 in KCET. I opted for many colleges in the 1st round of counseling. I got NMIT. I confirmed it and went to college. I had to pay the set fee of Rs.45000 to the bank for KEA. Then I had to go to college admission hall to verify all documents and then pay a college fee of Rs.30000 and transportation fee. Everything had to be paid in cash.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties are very knowledgeable in the subject they teach. All are comprehensively interviewed to check their level of knowledge. They are given to teach juniors until they gain experience and then they teach seniors. Many of them are alumni of IIT, IISc, NIT.

Placement Experience:

RIT's placement scenario is very good, even for the most unpopular branches such as Civil Engineering. Starting from the 7th semester, students are allowed to participate in campus recruitment, and companies come to the campus for the entire final year. The major recruiting companies are L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Sobha Developers, Atkins, PWD, and Infosys for the non-core sector. Civil students on an average get ?5–6 LPA as salary, and the highest offer is usually in the range of ?12–15 LPA, depending on the company and the position. Almost 70–80% of Civil students are placed, while some of them go for higher studies or government examination.Site engineer, design engineer, planning engineer, survey engineer, and trainee engineer are the core positions that are offered. Also, non-traditional roles in IT and consulting can be taken up by those who are not interested in core engineering profiles.I will first acquire some work experience in the industry after completing my degree and then will pursue a master's degree in structural engineering to gain further specialization.

Students become elegible for placements from 7th sem onwards but we are encouraged to do internship before final itself. Most of the companies that come here aren't t1 or even t2. Highest probably would be 12L only if the student is exceptional but most would secure a package 4-6. And the percentage of students getting placed is <50%
